We booked a last minute stay. It was delightful and just what we wanted. Right on the beach. The lobby/reception area was so pretty and staff was so kind and accommodating.
The hotel was a wonderful, quaint place to stay. Shana was a terrific host as we checked in, graciously changing my room as my son had joined me from original plans. Room was efficient and clean. The location allowed us to walk down the boardwalk to the Stone Pony for the show we had come to see. Easy walking to a number of restaurants or a short drive into Asbury Park for more options. Definitely will stay here again next time I'm in Asbury Park.
Our stay at the Shawmont was perfectly enjoyable. The staff - Anna and Aileen in particular - were friendly, helpful and full of useful information and tips to make our first visit to Ocean Grove simply delightful.
I highly recommend the Shawmont to any travelers visiting the New Jersey shore.
Thanks!
Can’t say enough good things about my stay. The room was perfect. The location was perfect. The staff was so nice and helpful. I got stuck inside during the nor’easter and felt very safe. It’s definitely cozy and old so it’s a lil creaky and you’ll hear and meet your neighbors and parking can be annoying, but I loved it!
Beautiful front porch with rocking chairs. Lovely old hotel with lots of history. Great coffee Sparse breakfast. Consists of yogurt, bagels, and coffee. Market and many nice breakfast places nearby.
Awesome location. Next to the water, a couple of blocks from restaurants and shops. Staff was extra friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast - bagel and cream cheese, muffins, yougurt. Enjoyed sitting on the porch and seeing the ocean through breaks in the dune. It is a historic house so if stairs are an issue for you make sure you get a ground floor room.

It seemed that a few of the "amenities" were out of service (ice machine, etc). The room was small and felt a little neglected in terms of routine cleaning. The window AC unit was old and loud... sounded almost like a blender when it fired up. This was fine during the day, but a little jarring come sleepy time. All in all, a very charming place to stay with good beach vibes and friendly staff.
Hotel room was outdated. Beds are horrible. It is time for new bedding and new beds.
The porch in the front of the building is wonderful!
Parking is a real issue on a nice beach day. So prepare for that frustration.
Continelnal breakfast was stale bagels and Costco muffins. Coffee was very good, though.
Overall, being in Ocean Grove in a hotel on the beach was a delightful experience.
Just an all-around nice experience. It was off season so not so crazy with people like the summer. The area has so much to offer regarding shops and restaurants and the hotel experience was pleasant and relaxing. I didn't get to walk the boardwalk, but will on my next stay.
My stay here was so wonderful. I loved my room and the location of the hotel right on the beach was beautiful. The staff was incredible we especially loved Liv who made our experience personal and extra good. Definitely plan on staying here in future summers!
Perfect location right on the beach. We had a room with a view. Everyone there was pleasant and helpful. There was coffee and teas in the morning in the lobby. The room with 2 double beds and a refrigerator was perfect and it had a furnished balcony.
Property was well kept, close to the beach and had a lovely front porch for guests to use. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint is that the noise from the hallway and other rooms was a little loud, but nothing against the property itself when guests are noisey. Overall, great experience

Just ok. The room has the necessities but no extras, and the look and feel of the space, especially the bathroom, is bare minimum. Beds were comfortable and air conditioner worked well. Not sure if this is just the price for the area but for the price point (almost $500 a night) we were expecting more. The location was very nice though, right next to the beach, so likely that’s what you’re paying for.
Incredible staff, clean room, great location. We had reserved a room with a king bed, we thought, but only got a double, and the air conditioning didn’t work well- that part would have been a lot more difficult to tolerate at a hotter time of year. There were so many positives on this stay though, it wasn’t really a big deal.
This hotel oozes style. It is warm and chic. The “basic” rooms make you feel like you’re at home in a NYC apartment. The green room staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Housekeeping was friendly and accommodating bringing more creamers into the room at a rapid rate….and YES !! …there are nespresso machines IN the room!! (As well as a Dyson hairdryer with multiple attachments). This hotel is 5 stars.
