This resort was a HUGE highlight of my trip to Myanmar. The staff was so friendly and helped in every way that they could. The breakfast was delicious, rooms extremely spacious and perfectly kept grounds. The drinking water was a huge bonus. It is a difficult time right now for they people and they could not have been more thankful that I was there.
The tour around the lake was such a unique experience. I loved learning how they make the gardens and the above water houses. The fishermen are mesmerizing to watch. I recommend to bring a fair amount of cash with you. There is not a nearby ATM for ages. The silversmith store has amazing jewelry and only takes cash right now. The local airport may have been the smallest, oldest airport I have ever been in, but it got the job done.
The stay is in general very good. Room in very good condition, nice decoration and foods are good.
One comment on the service. Called front desk once around 10pm. No one answer.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Expensive price with bad quality
An expensive price but poor quality of service, we booked the price without cancellation over half year ago, but it changed to another name when we arrived. The previous comments is completely different as I read, the room is old and the bed is worn out. There is only one buggy available in the villa, we have to wait for a long time. When we checked out the buggy was broken so we have to walk to the lobby. The staff English are poor and hard to communicate.
We stayed for 3 nights with two villas and the price is not worth at all to pay such an expensive price with such a bad quality. Also the breakfast is poor.
Absolutely stunning area of Myanmar, the hotel was perfect and the staff extremely helpful! From the rooms, to the grounds...have nothing bad to say and the breakfasts were delicious!
A lovely little resort with very attentive staff who do there utmost to be as helpful as possible. Be prepared for chilly evenings and a chilly pool, although the view over the lakes are stunning ( better from some cabins than others) ensure you get out and about and see what it is all about, the locals are friendly and currently do not regard tourists as something to rip off. Be ready to barter and don’t but the first thing you see - you will often see the same thing on several stalls at different prices. A fast longboat trip will never be forgotten and a wonderful way to spend half a day. If you want to be really adventurous - go horse riding up in the mountains.
Sadly, a big disappointment.
The food was great, as was the ambience.
Unfortunately, they lack any good management here and you are left feeling like they have one goal- to get as much money as possible from you. I had a terrible experience at their spa and even though I directed it to management, not a word was ever said. There also wasn’t any help on details going on or direction.
This morning they had an offering to some local monks outside my room. But, I was never informed of it, I think all the guests would have enjoyed. For me, it just steam rolled into one thing after another.
I definitely suggest staying on the lake, but would suggest you try another property.
We stayed 3 nights at Villa Inle Resort and enjoyed every minute. The villas are on stilts and the interiors are stunning with wood floors, romantic beds with mosquito nets reaching up to the 30' ceiling, large soaking tubs, and rain forest showers. The views are west facing with great sunsets from the large decks overlooking the lake, and the locals would bring their water buffalo to graze on the grounds. Every day they leave something new and special in the room (e.g. unusual Longon fruits, red bananas, etc). The first night the bed and entire room was decked out in flowers and every day a new pot of water with beautiful floating flowers was placed outside the door.
I had 2 massages and 1 salt scrub at the spa and they were great. Ask for Ei Pyiu (sp).
The reception was helpful in booking tours of the lake. We ate most meals at the restaurant which was good.
The downside: many of the staff spoke poor English, their is no fitness room, and the transportation provided by the hotel to/from the airport was very expensive. We used Mr A Tun Travel Agency instead and paid half the price (they are on Facebook).
Overall this was our favorite hotel in all of Myanmar and I highly recommend it.
We stayed at the end of the rainy season, which luckily mean not so many tourists on the Lake. Yet even when the resort was fully booked it didn't seem crowded (it's not a huge resort with a smallish number of villas). The villas are charming - and very big. Food was good (although we ate twice at Green Chill for lunch - about 30 mins by boat - which was exceptional for local Shan cuisine). We also walked to a other resort near by for dinner one night - it was great (warning if you do this, arrange transport back - we were met by a pack of wild dog on the walk back - very nasty and no joke given rabbies in-country - luckily 'saved' by a local who kindly gave us a lift back to our resort). The staff at theVilla Inle Rsort and Spa were absolutely delightful - so friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend this resort if you visit the area.
