"The hotel was in the ideal location had everything you needed on the doorstep. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. The room was warm and comfortable though slightly dated compared to the foyer but was clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was lovely lots of choice. Would definitely stay again "

"The location of the hotel is ideal for St Thomas' hospital. Room housekeeping could have been better there was no hand soap in the bathroom for 2 days and dirty cups and glasses were not removed. The box that controlled the lighting didn't work on one side of the bed. These are small things but should have been checked. Breakfast wasn't great, it was so busy that by the time you actually filled your plate it was barely warm enough to eat. £20 each for breakfast is a lot so found Wetherspoons a 10 min walk away which cost less than that for 2 people and more importantly it was hot."

"Great continental breakfast with good selection of hot food, breads and pastries. Location is fantastic at close walking distance to tube station. Overall condition is great and the room size is decent with good tv selection, inclusive of Netflix and YouTube. Only downside is the lack of AC so you will need to open the windows to ventilate and there isn't temperature control. A heater is present though. "

"Room was a potential risk to life. The plug socket is hanging off the wall. The shower sprayed water out of the hose attachment every where and the bathroom floor was dusty. "

"Ok I really did like the hotel except for one thing and honestly it’s a big thing for me. The rooms are dark they have that ambient light of desk lamps and little low power bulbs. I hate it I cannot put my make up on yes there’s a mirror at the sink with a light but when the rest of the room is dark big deal it’s just not enough, like imagine going on a night out and having that. If you lose something you’re like where is it I will need to get my phone torch out. Can you not get a big light for the room so I can see very clearly all my belongings. I know some hotels like like but it’s annoying. I need to see please please stick a big light in there and it would be perfect. You can switch off a light what can you do if there is no light. It’s like a cave. "

"The location is ideal for seeing Edinburgh city centre. If you don't want the nightlife noise then stay somewhere else. The view of Edinburgh Castle from our room was perfect though they could have covered the small expanse of roofing to make it more visually appealing. And the windows don't open so ask them to clean them if you want nice photos. The bed is comfortable the room well equipped. It was nice to have a small fridge, kettle etc. more than two coffee cups would be more useful. The breakfast was excellent and staffing at the restaurant in the morning very pleasant and helpful, and attentive. We had dinner one night at the restaurant. My bowl was chipped,the meal was not the standard I expected for the price so it was the only one we had there. Received our meal with no utensils, we had ordered soup and a main. Front staff representatives friendly and approachable. Since there are many uneven stairs I was surprised to see them watch other older patrons struggle to bring luggage up and down them and not offer to assist they watch a group of 12 do just that and the last one was the only one they moved to assist and she was already half way down. Not very amusing while I held the door."
