Guest have access to their room and en-suite. Our rooms are located above our very own Cafe. We highly suggest you check out all they have to offer! Upon your arrival you will given a code to access the red door which will lead you up a flight of stairs (elevators are not on site and climbing stairs are required to access the rooms). Once you find your room number, a separate code will be given to access your direct room.
Please keep in mind this is not a full service hotel. Our team is available to help in any way possible. Staff is not onsite 24/7 but is close by.

Downtown Nevada City! The central location ensures easy access to the vibrant energy of the town, its eclectic shops, and lively atmosphere. However, it's important to note that the downtown setting comes with the natural sounds of city life.

Due to it's central location – everything you desire is just a leisurely walk away. Embrace the freedom to fully enjoy the downtown experience, knowing that your comfortable retreat at The 1856 Speakeasy Suites is just steps from the heart of it all.

Because we are in the heart of Nevada City, and parking is limited, there are not designated parking spots.

Please also note that there are stairs to access the rooms. We do not have an elevator due to the building being historic.

And please be prepared to find all of the unique quirks this building offers due to it's history. Not all floors and walls are completely level, but we can assure you it has been inspected and safe. We tried our best to keep it as original as possible though to highlight it's beautiful character.

IMPORTANT:
1. **Noise Levels:**
- Rooms 1, 2, and 3 experience more noise, while 4, 6, and 8 may have some noise due to their location on Pine Street. Rooms 5 and 7 are the most peaceful for a quieter stay.

2. **Child Safety:**
- Rooms 1 and 2 are not recommended for guests with children due to the balcony and low railing. Additionally, rooms 4, 6, and 8 have low windows, and caution is advised to prevent any climbing incidents if the windows are left open.

IMPORTANT: If you cancel your reservation at least 5 days before your check-in we will refund you 100% of your payment minus the Credit Card processing fee of 3.9%. We also recommend all guest purchase trip insurance as it is relatively affordable, and protects you against unforeseen situations.

SMOKING FEE DISCLAIMER: We take great pride in providing a clean and comfortable environment for all our guests. To ensure the well-being of everyone who stays in our property, we strictly enforce a no-smoking policy.

SMOKING FEE: A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if evidence of smoking is found within the rooms. This fee is intended to cover the costs associated with professional odor removal and restoration of the property to its smoke-free condition.
Our property is routinely inspected for smoke odors after every reservation. If smoking is detected during or after your stay, the smoking fee will be applied to cover the necessary cleaning and restoration processes.
We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a smoke-free environment for all our guests. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding our smoking policy.

Check-In and Access
- I acknowledge that check-in time is between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM, unless an early check-in has been specifically requested and approved. I also acknowledge that check-out time is 10:00 AM unless a late check-out has been specifically requested and approved.
- I acknowledge that while initial check-in after 10:00 PM is possible, assistance may be limited during these hours. If I am attempting my first check-in after 10:00 PM and am unable to access the building and/or my room, no refunds will be issued regardless of circumstances. I understand this applies only to first-time check-ins after 10:00 PM, not to re-entry after having previously checked in during normal hours.
- I acknowledge that this is a self-service hotel with no front desk or on-site staff, and check-in is conducted entirely through provided access codes for both the building entrance and room.
Property Characteristics
- I acknowledge that the hotel has NO ELEVATOR and requires climbing a steep staircase of 20 stairs to access the rooms. I understand and accept that I must be physically capable of managing these stairs with my luggage.
- I acknowledge that the hotel is located in Downtown Nevada City and situated above a restaurant. I understand this location may result in ambient noise from both downtown activities and restaurant operations.
- I acknowledge that the hotel does not provide designated parking, and only street parking is available.
Financial Terms
- I acknowledge and accept the cancellation policy: 100% refund is available only if cancellation occurs 5 or more days before the check-in date. 50% refund between days 5-3. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 3 days before check-in, including no-shows, regardless of circumstances.
- I acknowledge that a $50 damage deposit will be pre-authorized on the card provided 3 hours before check-in. This hold will be released within 7 days after a post-checkout inspection confirms no damage to the property.
- I specifically acknowledge that by signing this form, I waive my right to dispute charges with my credit card company for any stays that fall within the non-refundable cancellation period, as I understand this is a binding financial commitment.

Front Door

I didnt notice in email the combination code for the front door and room combination code didnt work. Also, due to parade, excessive number of cars on streets, and closed streets we couldnt access hotel at 3pm. We parked about 1 1/2 miles from hotel.
