Welcome to the Mothership, an octagonal post and beam cottage built for those with a love of the outdoors. Located on our small farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are a perfect launching point for adventure. Lake James and the Linville Gorge are only 20 minutes away, Asheville 45 minutes, and Charlotte only an hour. Explore countless waterfalls, miles of trails, or kayak our beautiful rivers during the day, and relax in the hot tub and shoot pool in the evening.

The property
The Mothership is located on our 15 acre organic homestead. We raise sheep, goats, horses, blueberries, and mixed vegetables. Guests are welcome to meet the critters, pick berries in season, and help themselves to whatever is growing.

Guest access
There is a dedicated parking area for guests. Just come up Idle Acres drive and follow the driveway as it turns to gravel. The mothership will be on the left. If you arrive at night just follow the solar lights.

We encourage people to explore the farm, but please do not feed the animals without asking us first. Thanks!

Our area has incredible hiking opportunities like the Linville Gorge and the Mountains to Sea Trail. We have become bit of a Disc Golf mecca. There are 3 good courses within 15 minutes and a professional level course about 30 minutes away. We also have a very happening mountain bike scene with miles and miles of trails of all difficulty levels within 30 minutes. If you like to play outdoors, you'd be hard pressed to find a better location.
