We stayed over the new year, and during the January 1st earthquake. This was our first time visiting Japan and we speak zero Japanese. We are so thankful to have stayed at this hotel with such an excellent team. We have done a lot of travel and we mean it when we say the staff at this hotel were the kindest and most supportive we have ever experienced. They had portable devices to translate and allow us to communicate, as well as a great staff member that spoke English! We had many questions with our ski and snowboard gear delivery, ordering taxis, and helping identify a new route to get to our next destination with travel disrupted due to the earthquake that the team enthusiastically helped with.
On our departure day we missed our shuttle pick up from the hotel, and Kenji kindly drove us 15 minutes to the Hakuba Valley station himself just in time to make our transport to Nagano! He was a hero to us, and this was just one of the great experiences we had with this accommodation. Also the restaurant and Onsen are excellent!
Very very nice hotel with wonderful service from staff. Guests can enjoy free breakfast, icecream, yakult, night noodles, sake and onsen in the hotel. Would definitely visit again for next ski trip
The inn proprietors were exceedingly helpful, friendly and kind. We felt very welcomed. The onsen bath was beautiful and very relaxing. They provided some nice spa products that I enjoyed. The breakfast buffet was delicious with many local products used. Dinner at the restaurant was colorful and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Amazing customer service. Employees go above and beyond to ensure your comfort and are so lovely.

This was one of the most extraordinary experiences I have had traveling!! The staff was extremely kind and thoughtful and it felt like staying with family. We were looking for an authentic Japanese experience and this hotel exceeded our expectations. We were so sad to leave. We used the onsen everyday and enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast every morning before skiing. The location was great, and we will definitely be back!!!!!!!!
An amazing place to stay if you want to experience the traditional Japan in a comfortable way. Chiko went out of her way yo help with many things and the Onsen is amazing with access all night. Convenient to the shuttle bus to Goryu which accesses Hakuba47. Our family had a wonderful stay!
What an amazing experience. Extremely friendly staff that went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The onsen is a HUGE plus to help unwind from a day of skiing. One of the few that allows tattoos as well. Even my five year old daughter was able to enjoy it. Will definitely be staying again!
Our stay here was great! The onsen is AMAZING! Small room but had everything we needed. And free breakfast! The bbq restaurant in the hotel is so delicious! The staff especially made our stay so wonderful, they were so accommodating and helpful, we’d never experienced hospitality like it!
Hakuba Ryujin Onsen was amazing. The staff were wonderful, the rooms were nice and cozy, and the onsen was beautiful and relaxing. The breakfast was delicious and a great value, and the BBQ restaurant inside the hotel was also great. I would absolutely stay in this hotel again.
The team at Hakuba Ryugin Onsen is Fantastic! We stayed four nights over Xmas at this 8 rooms onsen hotel that’s 3 mins drive from Hakuba Goryu ski resort.
The staff are big on smiles and enthusiasm, and anticipate our every needs.... little gifts for the kids (everyday!), complimentary onsen entrance tickets for our friends who were visiting for dinner, refill my hot water bottle every time I walk past, shovel snow off our car in the morning, and most awesome was a complimentary room upgrade when they saw that our two kids were not so tiny as to fit into a room with us with two double beds.
Food was yummy; traditional Japanese breakfast , and a great yakaniku restaurant on site that’s reasonably priced and good quality.
The onsen (public only, no private or family baths) was a real draw to finish up a day on the ski field.
We love this place. Stayed here for 2 nights. We were seeking an authentic Japanese experience and found it here. The traditional breakfast was fresh and filling and we loved experiencing traditional food. The Onsen itself was clean and beautiful and not too crowded. A shuttle comes right to the property to bring you up to the base of Hakuba Groyu if you are planning to ski. What makes this place memorable are the staff. They were warm and hospitable. We felt like we were staying with family.
We stayed here for three nights while skiing in Hakuba. We thought we would try a Japanese room and it was a wonderful experience.
The beds were comfortable, the room had excellent heating, the staff were all AMAZING!
The onsen was beautiful, especially while it was snowing outside. The restaurants were delicious and breakfast was a feast.
We would recommend staying here and wold love to come back and stay again.
Thank you
Nice place close to the mountain with a shuttle in front. We tried to call up to confirm a few things but no one answered. One we arrived we were pleasentily surprised.
It's a gem in the HAKUBA! Didn't know that the onsen is actually a public (self service one). Surprisingly the place is very clean and well maintained. Owner is very friendly and helpful. They serve good breakfast and the place is strategically located, there's also a good yakiniku place next door, you don't have to worry about food. It's rare that the onsen allows people with tattoos to enter, though i don't have one, i don't mind at all. This is the only onsen i had been that doesn't show any etiquette signs before entering the onsen too, i find it very casual and relax but i do hope that they'll let the patrons know basic etiquette plus nice should be kept down in the public place. I love this place a lot, especially the onsen, it's by far the best outdoor onsen i had ever been to. I'm missing the place already! Will definitely return end of this year!
