Txurruka is located in the coastal town of Mutriku. An avenue that gives its name to two of the many illustrious people who have left an important architectural legacy in the fishing village, such as the Arrietakua Palace, a beautiful 18th century palace located in the heart of the Historic District, which allows us to travel back in time. Built by Admiral Antonio de Gaztañeta, a renowned shipbuilder between the 17th and 18th centuries, it is the birthplace of Brigadier Cosme Damián Churruca, a great scientist and hero of the Battle of Trafalgar. And, it is currently the home of the Count of Mutriku, Don Enrique Areilza y Churruca. Descendant of Evaristo Churruca, who became an internationally renowned engineer, responsible for the construction of the outer port of Bilbao.
