Beautiful Seaside Home with Sweeping Views - Weekly Discounts Available!
Heron Pool is a lovely country home privately situated on Somesville Harbor. We just completed a major renovation in 2020 to fully winterize the house, add a solar system, install all new windows, doors and insulation with a new efficient heat pump to heat and cool the house.
Heron Pool is at the end of a long driveway with sweeping views of the harbor and mountains. The property shares a dock with the neighbors. Take in bald eagles, ospreys, loons, seals, deer, and more from the deck. Inside it is tastefully furnished with antiques, overstuffed couches, and plenty of space for your family. The main house has 4 bedrooms, with 2 queen size beds and 4 single beds. There is also a private cottage steps away from the house with a queen size bed and full bathroom. Have lunch in the garden at a teak table set over looking the water, swim off the dock at high tide, kayak the harbor or just snooze in a lawn chair. Bikes and kayaks can be rented locally, and Somes Pond is minutes away and much warmer to swim in than the ocean.
Heron Pool sleeps 10 comfortably and is truly a family home. It is ideal for kids with a wooden swing set, fields and shoreline to explore, all well set back from the road.
If you ever leave the property you can enjoy all that Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, SW Harbor and NE Harbor have to offer. The owner will send you a long list of suggestions for hiking, biking, kayaking or going to have a nice meal or ice cream. You may not be a Rockefeller but you sure can live like one. Make Heron Pool a part of your summer this year and for years to come.

We loved the house! The dock and view of the sound were awesome. The location was wonderful, close to all the cute areas. Would definitely stay here again.
Great property, views of the water, deer visited everyday , 3 adult couples had plenty of space. The location is perfect close to park, bar harbor and southwest harbor.
We greatly enjoyed our stay Heron Pool. There were several small issues that we encountered but the caretaker was able to resolve them quickly. We met our host and he was wonderfully welcoming and made us feel like part of the family.
We had an enjoyable stay at Robert's property. There was plenty of space for the entire family, yet it still felt comfortable and cozy. The location was perfect for getting around Mt. Desert Island. The location by the water was incredibly peaceful.
Eclectic House with Tableware for many many guests
Our group of 10 as 3 families really enjoyed the house. The kitchen was well stocked on dishes, cooking items, spices. We also enjoyed the library of books (there was a very eclectic range of books)
Lovely home in wooded area adjacent to tidal bay. Comfortable accommodations, well stocked kitchen, great location close to Acadia, close enough to Bar Harbor.
Great location. Lots of space to move about with the 8 of us. Loved the little cottage on the property which gave my husband and I some quiet from our adukt kids who stay up later than we do!
More beautiful than the pictures can show, this house is a dream, on the water, spacious, private. My family and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect home base to explore Acadia.
Herron Pool was charming and takes a step back in time. If you enjoy antiques and feeling like you are living in a charming New England cottage, then this place is for you!
Beautiful location - convenient to Acadia & downtown Bar Harbor
This was the first time we stayed in this area of the island and it did not disappoint. It was an easy drive to Acadia National Park, downtown Bar Harbor, and the Bass Harbor lighthouse. The sunrises every morning over the water were spectacular, the house was homey and quaint with a well-stocked kitchen and plenty of space for our family of 5 and 2 significant others. Highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is in a beautiful location. Kitchen is well equipped and clean. The caretaker was very responsive.
The bottom bunk was uncomfortable for an adult, but the other accommodations were fine.
Property is ideally located literally at the center of Acadia. Short drive to all the hikes and local attractions on Mt Desert Island.
Very peaceful watching the tides roll in and out from the deck. Plenty of room in the house, which is well-maintained.
Our party of 8 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for our group…close to several towns but secluded and private. The house was quaint, clean and well stocked. The homeowner and caretaker were quick to respond to any questions. We are so glad we chose Heron Pool!
This house was perfect for our family girls trip with three generations. The kitchen was very well stocked. Five bedrooms gave us plenty of room to sleep comfortably. There are several sitting areas including a nice sun room and deck. The view was amazing and we enjoyed watching the tide come in and out. Best of all was the location.to Acadia. Great house to create lasting memories!
We had a wonderful stay at Heron Pool. Our family gathering was an opportunity to visit Acadia National Park and this property was a perfect fit. We were so comfortable in this lovely home, so spacious, clean, and well stocked, and the outside shower and use of the dock were icing on the cake. Entrance to Acadia is a breeze, and a trip into Bar Harbor is a hop, skip and jump as well. We all loved the stay! Thank you Robert and Robin for sharing your beautiful home.
The house provided everything our family needed for a wonderful week long mini reunion. Everyone was comfortable and there was plenty of space for multiple activities, enough bathrooms for all and large fully stocked kitchen. The view out back was stunning and the setting very secluded and private. We all loved it and several of us remarked that we slept better than at home. We also found the location ideal for exploring Acadia NP, heading to town for groceries or to eat out. Just about perfect!
Lovely fall location near the park. Plenty of room for 7 people. Well stocked kitchen with plenty of space. We all loved coffee in the porch looking over the pond.
The individual room temp controls were a plus. Bummer that the tub didn’t have a stopper so we could have used it.
My colleagues and I choose a different location for a retreat yearly--this was our choice this year, and we were happy with this seaside home. In fact, a few members of our party so loved the home so much they are planning to return with their families. Highlights: Candy was very helpful, the unique layout and character of the home and setting were amazing, and we were quite pleased with how equipped the place was with kitchen utensils, paper products, towels, etc. Lovely place, hope to return soon!
The house was everything we hoped for! It had an old-world charm without being stuffy and was very spacious (the pictures don't do it justice). The location was centrally located to get to everything but was secluded from the roadway and other houses, so it felt very private. The kitchen was very well stocked and the number of bathrooms was very appreciated with our larger group. Would definitely stay here again!
The only minor issue we had was that the main level heating wasn't very consistent, some areas were cooler while others were warmer.
We really enjoyed our stay! The sunroom is the best! We stayed there a lot. I wish the upstairs queen bed had steps to get into the bed. The bed is really high. I also wish the path to the dock was easier to walk on. The property manager was the best and the owner was easy to text. We really loved it! We saw deer and an eagle from the deck.
Beautiful old New England home with a million dollar view of an ocean inlet. Comfortably slept six adults and four children. We saw deer, blue heron, loons and one bald eagle. We had coffee in the Sun room overlooking the water in the mornings and in the evenings we sat on the deck listening to the wildlife. We heard a pack of coyotes, across the inlet, one evening. Short drive to Acadia National park and Bar Harbor. The owner suggested many things to do and great restaurants. Would love to come back and stay longer. Great place.
Idyllic home with beautiful view in great location
From the property we observed a lot of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, a bald eagle, osprey and heron. The house was charming, sprawling, light-filled, filled with lovely antiques and a well-supplied kitchen.
It was easy to drive into Arcadia Park from the house. We enjoyed riding 3-bikes on the carriage roads, walking atop Cadillac Mountain, hiking along the Ocean Path trail, and walking next door to Acadia Repertory Theater for a play. The farm market at Beech Hill farm was also worthwhile.
I hope we’re able to return to this great spot.
I chose this property due to the central location relative to Acadia National Park and being on the water. The kids loved fishing off the dock and we enjoyed coffee and drinks on the deck watching the tide changes. The house is so cute but updated. The rooms were perfect for two families of boys and girls as everyone had a nice space for themselves. We used the kitchen to its fullest cooking bacon and eggs as well as baked donuts. Candy was responsive to our questions and very helpful. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants to have an authentic Maine experience!
