外観はさほど立派には見えませんが、建物の中はとても素敵にメンテ＆デコレーションされています。家具・調度類は素晴らしいアンティークばかりでした。一方、増築した部分には快適なレインシャワーがあり、快適な宿泊ができました。オーナーのホスピタリティーも極めて高く、心温まるおもてなしでした。朝食も素材のしかりしもの（フリーレンジの鶏卵、ローカル製のベーコン等）で美味しくいただきました。また是非利用したいと思います。

Mill House is beautiful, we feel blessed to have found it! We have come here now for four years now in all seasons, and the welcome is always as warm, and the house as inviting. You are amazing Karen!

Karen is a wonderful hostess who made us feel at home from her first greeting in the rain. The property is beautifully situated in a tranquil valley with deer roaming on the adjacent hill. The bed was very spacious and comfortable, the decor was really tasteful and the breakfast was sumptuous.

Relaxing Break

We decided to stay at Mill House as we were visiting our youngest son in Newcastle where he is at university and wanted to spend some time in Northumbria before returning home. Following a night in Newcastle, we made our way up the A1 to Mill House, a journey of about 40 minutes. We were welcomed on arrival by Karen who very kindly booked a table for us at the local restaurant and then made us a pot of tea and home made cakes wich we ate in the snug, this is for residents only and Karen lit the wood burning stove so it was lovely and cosy. We had the upstairs bedroom which was fabulous, with a private bathroom just across the hall, this wasn't an issue as we were the only people upstairs so there wasn't a problem of bumping into anyone en route to the bathroom. Breakfast was served at a time of our choice and this was lovely and filled us up for the day. On our second night Karen again arranged a table for us at another local restaurant and on our return she had lit the fire for us in the snug so it was really cosy and she had also lit the candles dotted around the room, it was very welcoming and felt like home from home. Karen was so friendly it felt like we were chatting to a friend, she had lots of information about the local area and maps available to borrow if needed. I would say karen went over and above to ensure that we had a relaxing time, I would not hesitate to stay here again and am already planning when we can escape to Mill House again. Thank you Karen

Stunning from start to finish - we had a great weeks stay. A beautiful property, bursting with character and interior design. Karen’s attention to detail makes this place so special, from the hombaked welcome cake, to the daily cookies in your room or the high quality breakfast feast served daily - we ate like Lords. The rooms are beautifully decorated, ours en-suite and opulent in every direction. Guests have the use of a private lounge which we had to ourselves most of the week, a cooler fridge and mini kitchen enables you to stay in and have your own food, we ate outside in the garden a few times instead of going out. Lots of local activity information available, with Karen willing to help advise or book anything needed. A generous and attentive host, a beautiful house with exceptional standards. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it wholeheartedly.

A home away from home

A brillant b&b. From arriving Karen was very welcoming,nothing was too much trouble for her. After showing us our room she offered us a drink and a lovely piece of cake. The bedroom was very comfortable with a large bathroom with a bath and a excellent walk in shower. Toiletries were available in the bathroom. There was tea and coffee making facilities and a choice if flavoured tea and 2 lovely cookies. Breakfast was delicious. A good choice of cereal,fruit,toast and yoghurt. The cooked breakfast was delicious with sausages and bacon from the local butchers and local free range eggs. Staying here was very relaxed and felt like home.Karen was an excellent host.

Karen made us feel so at home and welcome. She treated us to delicious home made cake on arrival along with valuable knowledge of local attractions. It’s a really beautiful place inside and outside. A really relaxing environment. There were lots of interesting things to read, on the history of the cottage and things to do. Karen has thought of every little detail. She was the perfect host and we can’t thank her enough for making our stay so memorable. The bedroom was fantastic and the bed was very comfortable with tea making facilities in the room. We only stayed one night but we got to spot a deer from the bedroom window in the morning. Breakfast was delicious, very generous with lots of options available and educational! We learned some egg related cooking facts from Karen 🙂 We would happily visit again if we were ever in the area, have recommended this place to our friends and highly recommend that you visit!

Exceptional gem in Northumberland countryside

We stayed here to attend a wedding at nearby Eshott Hall. This was an exceptional property it is without doubt the best B & B we have ever stayed in anywhere! The standard of fixtures, fittings and soft furnishings was tasteful and luxurious and this is obviously a much loved family home that is now used for B & B now children flown the nest. Karen the owner went above and beyond to facilitate check in and check out that worked for us. Breakfast would rival any top hotel and was all locally sourced and high quality with huge variety and choice and there was only four guests for breakfast!. Karen even ensured my husband had gluten free sausages and artisan bread so not left out. I have already told all my friends and family about this little gem in the heart of Northumberland countryside and I am already planning another visit! Get booking now! But don’t tell too many people as I want to go again!

Beautiful and tranquil B and B

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights at the end of October. We chose Mill House based on the excellent reviews and were not left disappointed. Karen is the perfect host and you really feel like you are staying with someone who cares about everything, from preparing breakfast just how you like it to making sure you get the most out of your visit with great suggestions for places to visit and eat. The B and B is perfect, it honestly is. The location is just off the A1 but you feel removed from everything with just the river outside. Our room was the ground floor ensuite and it was so cosy but elegant with a huge luxurious bathroom. We could have stayed for a week in that room. The whole B and B is gorgeously decorated with attractive old books and artwork and antique furniture but it still feels contemporary and warm. Sitting in the guest lounge with the candles lit and all the warmth from the thick walls after a long day in the cold was particularly lovely. Breakfast was served in the prettiest breakfast room, and you really felt you were in a friend's house. Lots to choose from, including fresh fruit which I like and a good selection of local preserves. The cooked breakfast was done on an Aga and it was delicious. The black pudding was such a treat. Neither of us really wanted to leave. We had a wonderful break in beautiful Northumberland and a big part of that was staying at Mill House. It is very special and no wonde Karen has won so many awards for it.

We were met by Karen who showed us around the premises and our room. She then invited us to a cup of tea and coffee and apiece of cake. Karen was a mine of information around the general area and had maps to help. Our room was lovely and tidy with a jug and cups with tea coffe and two biscuits. The Bed was very comfortable with access to a private bathroom and toilet. Vey peaceful and quiet. When we got up the breakfast was something to speak about very full and well done with every aspect taken care of. We were very impressed with the whole experience. Plenty of on site parking for vehicles.

Amazingly Beautiful place in a wonderful location

Gorgeous B&B set in a beautiful location, Karen the owner really enhances the experience with her warmth and hospitality. A warm welcome upon our arrival , she gave us a informative tour with info on local restaurants etc. The house is immaculate and furnished to the highest quality, really cannot think of anything Karen could do to improve our stay. Will definitely stay here again next time we are visiting this area.

Super stopover or hideaway BnB

Chanced on Mill House looking for a stopover between Sheffield and Edinburgh. It is tucked away near the lovely town of Alnwick. Had a great meal at nearby Cook and Barrow gastro pub. Karen very helpful. All highly recommended.

Amazing B&B

This B&B was incredible. It wasn’t far off the A1 but seemed so far removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Karen the owner was fantastic. She was so friendly and accommodating. She made us feel welcome from the off. Plus, she makes a proper tasty breakfast!! The decor and cottage is beautiful.

Escape to Mill House

From the first contact with owner Karen, it was a great experience. We were made to feel very welcome from our first contact, even before we arrived at this lovely property in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Mill Hill is the perfect cosy place to relax in a wonderful location, only a short distance from the A1 so easy to reach, yet nestled away from any main road and traffic. It is a good location to be able to explore the North East and its coastline. The room was beautifully decorated with lots of interesting touches, a large comfortable bed and large bathroom and modern walk in shower. Vegetarian and gluten free options at breakfast, including fresh fruit and a traditional full English breakfast with very tasty ingredients. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night, but look forward to returning and using it as a base to explore the wider area. Karen was most accommodating, booking a table for us for dinner at the Northumbrian Arms about three miles away.

A perfect experience

Our 2 night stay was one to remember. We were greeted in the best of ways. Everything was clearly explained and the owner went above and beyond. Diner locations were proposed, which were simply amazing, and sights to see aswell. The recommendationa were tailored to our length of stay and what we wanted to see in the region. The breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip in england and special attentions were made to everyone. The place was clean and tidy. The decoration is superb and one might even say perfect. The mill house is located in a awesome region and gives the place a unique charm that is engraved in our memories. Clearly a place to recommend and to go again anytime.
