About this property
Private cottage on 8 wooded and flower-filled acres at Lake Wentworth and the Wentworth River
This is Le Refuge. A place where you feel like yourself. Where you feel like you're disconnected from the world. Where time stands still. A place where you savor the small moments and the big ones.
35 minutes from Yarmouth, 30 minutes from Mavillette Provincial Beach and less than 60 minutes from Digby, Le Refuge is located in the middle of the forest on the Lake and the Wentworth River. It is located on a cul-de-sac road which is a guarantee of great tranquility with all amenities (e.g.: Wifi).
Simply for a stay as a couple or with friends or to accommodate a family of five, Le Refuge offers two bedrooms. The open concept with its large windows allows an exceptional view of the Lake and the Wentworth River, as well as the forest. A beautiful large fully equipped kitchen and two sitting areas, one of which is equipped with a real stone fireplace.
There is the constancy of the waterfall that lulls us with its chorus, the fluidity of the river that carries us into daydreaming and the beauty of the lake and the forest that reveal their wildlife and floral treasures. There are majestic sunsets and starry skies. No matter the season, The Refuge welcomes us and envelops us in its surrounding beauty.
The Wentworth Lake Nature Reserve protects a long and narrow ridge of mixed coniferous and deciduous forest that separates Wentworth and Little Wentworth lakes. The rich soils support impressive forest stands with old sugar maples, yellow birch, hemlock and red spruce.
The Wentworth Lake on which Le Refuge is located is a very tranquil 11 km stretch of water with islands to explore by navigable access. Also, the river that passes right in front of the Refuge, gradually flows into Little Wentworth and Privilege lakes, and forms the beginning of the Carleton River Canoe Route. The crossing of rivers and falls makes it an ideal place for water activities such as kayaking, canoeing and portaging. This nature reserve helps maintain the very picturesque character of Wentworth and Little Wentworth lakes and Le Refuge is also a good example.

My friend and I traveled from Maine for a Nova Scotia adventure and were so lucky to find this gem on Lake Wentworth. The house is brand new and right on the lake, with the most spectacular sunset and star gazing. Very off the beaten path, and a lovely and helpful host.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
This property was beautiful but it was lacking a deck out the two sliding glass doors off the main room, there was just a 3 ft drop. There was no outside seating either, host told us there were rocks by the really old picnic table by the lake. Nothing close to the house though. The side door that was marked emergency exit had no lock on it, just a towel stuffed where the lock would be this had a 3 foot drop off to the ground as well. The property was beautiful and it was super easy to check in and host was easy to communicate with through the VRBO messages. I would rate the house a 1 out of 5 but with the beautiful property I would give it a 3.
