Amazing hotel with an amazing view. Everything about this hotel is beautiful, super clean and very good service. Location is very good too.

Nice hotel. Close to cable car routes. Street noise can be heard in the rooms so o recommend a higher level floor. The was only 1 elevator working until the last day. The bar hours are very limited. We wanted to grab a drink and watch the World Cup for an hour one afternoon before leaving for our July 4th festivities

This is a very old, historic hotel so I came to it with some skepticism. I had some family visiting from the East Coast and wanted to spend a few nights in San Francisco and usually stay in the large chain hotels. I wanted to do something out of the ordinary and this hotel looked very cool. I noticed it was built in 1908 and started to wonder about amenities and overall upkeep. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the property, rooms, breakfast area and the butterfly bar. We went with suites and I they were very spacious and very well appointed. There was a fireplace and a portable A/C unit we never needed. The breakfast in the dining room was pleasant. It's better than continental, and they seem to keep it well stocked and at the proper temperatures. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the cleaning staff were on top of things. Overall I would recommend this hotel to people who want an authentic old world experience. The hotel is about 2 blocks from Japan Town and that's where we parked for $30.00 a day.
