disappointed
my wife an I stayed here before its nice but not the same under new owner
I've gone to Sunset (now Sunscape) five times....each time, my status was bumped up from standard to platinum. With the new owners, I lost my status. There were little bugs in my bathroom every day. I think I was bitten several times. Also, the air conditioning went out at least three times. Awfully hard to sleep in a warm room.
Only one restaurant was open in addition to the buffet. The setting is nice...some of the staff aggressively chase single women. There was no WiFi to speak of, and it rained inside the foyer--buckets and buckets. The staff couldn't even keep up with the leaks. The hotel has cut down on the number of servers all around. I thought the chef for the buffet was wonderful. He made the best food with what he was given. Standard fair of rice, chicken, sometimes beef, and dry deserts.
This is the last time I'll go here. I want my money back.

great snorkeling!
It was our first all inclusive. We loved it. The beach was amazing. The deal was amazing. I would go back in a heart beat. I snorkeled for hours on end at the little area right before the adult beach. I was concerned because of the hotel having a water park area but we were never bothered by any kids.
Do not ask for upgrade - not worth the $500.00. The refrigerator was not stocked daily as was mentioned in advertisement, the drinks were more juice than liquor (had to ask for additional liquor in drinks). The private beach was a walk away - not directly in front of your room. For the beach directly in front of your room, you had to put towels on chairs the night before you wanted to use them. Housekeeping cleaned daily - used same mop for every room and bathroom, did not clean well. The sheets on the bed were damp from humidity. Entertainment was OK. New Years Eve fireworks were great.
Had a great time during our stay. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

Great location, lots of stuff for the kids to do.
The resort was going through renovations which we were not aware of so a few things were unavailable, some restaurants not open - a little disappointing. We arrived 10am and were told we could not get a room until 3pm, which was a pain with kids. There were also never enough towels available and we had to use damp towels from previous day. Other than that we really did have a lovely time and the kids had a blast. The staff did a great job with the food, BBQ parties, New Years Eve buffet, etc. So, other than the few glitches mentioned, we did have a great time staying here and I would recommend this and would consider coming back. Amazing lovely fun happy staff.

Special Celebration
Atmosphere good and child friendly. However there was no regard for the fact that I was celebrating my 42nd Wedding Anniversary although this was communicated when I made reservation. Hotel Name modification was not communicated. It was evident that all things were not in place. Refrigerators should be restocked daily, availability of hand and body lotion would go a far way.
Excellent experience. The staff was very helpful, and kind. However, the bar staff would be better served if they paid full attention to the customer and not talk between themselves as much. But ivet al grea .
Sunset Beach Hotel is becoming Sunscape so there were some minor issues- not enough staff to open the specialty restaurants everyday, maybe not enough housekeepers, not enough towels. NONETHELESS- my kids and I had a great five days here. We had two special buffets (Christmas and Boxing Day) for dinner the first two nights and then ate in the Asian and Italian restaurants the other days. The regular buffet had good variety for eating healthy (if not enough Jamaican cuisine) and the drinks were plentiful. We spent the days at the adult pool or volleyball and tennis courts. My son kayaked. The staff was friendly and responded to questions and requests. One of the most restful, easiest beach vacations we've ever had.
A lot of renovations going on. Maybe it would be nicer when complete. Food is below average, and the drinks are terrible. Don't trust the alcohol is the same as the brands printed on the bottles.

Wonderful hotel and staff!
The hotel was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They take care of everything you need. Clifton at the lobby bar is amazing, always with a smile on his face. There was some construction going on which was mildly inconvenient at times, but usually we didn't even notice it. The resort was huge, so even with the hundreds of people there, it never felt crowded. You could easily get away from people and have your own space. At the same time, there were main gathering spots (usually near the bars) that were great for mingling. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back

Fairly good
The staff was very friendly and helpful. It took a long time to get our room cleaned if at all. Food was decent but repetitive and some of it was not prepared correctly. They are currently making improvements so this all may change.
We had a great time!! The staff was wonderful, the food was amazing and the drinks were in point!! The facility itself was nice, under a lot of construction but it was ok! Lots to do.... I highly recommend it for all!!!! :)
Not what I expected! Short stay ruined by noise from drilling and banging. Workmen all over the resort. Lifts in block A BOTH out of action. 5 flights of stairs to climb with Toddle and stroller!!! Not what I expected and defiantly not how I want to spend my hard earned money or well deserved time!!!!

All Inclusive Resort
I arrived from the airport close to 8:30 Eastern Time was not aware of the 1 hr. time difference and requested a bottle of wine with 1 glass be brought to my room that I planned to call for room service for a late dinner on the terrace. I was immediately told there was no room service that they had 9 restaurants I could eat at. I told them that I was traveling alone and am not fond of eating alone and would like room service. No room service available so I went to my room without anything to eat after being dragged to 2 different restaurants, an Asian and one by the pool that I had to stand in line for so I just left and went to my room. The phone rang shortly thereafter and was told that someone was bringing up a bottle of Chardonnay and a glass for me...I thanked them. I was awoken by construction noise (jack hammering, etc.) which went on every day I was there apparently on the 10th floor and the roof, I was booked on the 7th floor in Tower B. If you needed something to drink you had to take your ice bucket down to the bar for them to fill and use tap water...no refrigerators in the rooms either which was quite surprising. Needless to say I ate dinner at 1 restaurant, the one by the pool the entire time I was there and either ate breakfast or lunch in the help yourself dining area. They have no servers that wait on you by the pool to get your drinks for you or at the beach, you have to walk to the bar and get it yourself. The internet access room was out of order the entire time as well which was suppose to be included in my stay. The area is absolutely breath taking and the people who work their were very nice but I've learned that all inclusive is not all inclusive...you need to ask before you pay for it. Other's I meant where transferred to another area the other side of the breakfast/lunch area due to the noise of the construction which had room service, refrigerators, wi-fi, etc. Just wondering why I wasn't moved as well?
People were getting their rooms who arrived hours after we did, the front desk suggested that we go eat at the buffet while we were waiting. When we arrived at the buffet, I was soo disappointed, the salad bar portion of the buffet was very gross, the rest of the buffet was OK at best.
They tried to give me a room overlooking the roof that connects both towers, we looked out the balcony, the main part of our view would have been building B, which has rust bleeding down from the balconies, old crusty paint, and scaffolding around the whole top edge of the building, we also got the pleasure of being able to see the top of the roof that connected the 2 buildings, which had not been cleaned since they probably opened, the view was gross, when I complained, they wanted me to pay extra to get a different room, even though I had already paid extra through Travelocity to get an oven view, they finally gave me a better room when I told them that I was refusing to check in.
Make sure you are one of the first to get to the buffet, it looks like 10 miles of bad road after an hour, the food was just OK at best, the elevators broke down twice, even when both were working, they are very slow, the rooms smell musty, this place was built in 1968 and it shows, I would not go back if the trip was free of charge.
This was my first time to Jamaica, we stayed at this all inclusive hotel, everything was included like water activities such as snorkeling (they give you goggles and a mouth piece) and kayaking. Hotel was nice and the staff was all really kind. Jamaica is expensive. 1 US dollar is the equivalent of ~115 Jamaican dollars.... i bouth like 10 shirts and a couple of other little souvenirs for the family and it was more than 150 dollars... so bring money if you want to enjoy a nice stay. the tours were awesome, expensive as well and the packages seemed limited. but they were fun. dont rent a car. its too confusing to drive on the left side of the road like in England, you'll get lost or worse get in a car accident.
Front desk staff who checked my family in was very mannerly, pleasant, and smiling face.
The only draw back was the elevators were old, slow and jumps.
The food can be more upscale and a better choice of fish. Need more variety of food.
