"サーフィンのメッカです。早朝から夕方まで、誰かしらサーフィンを楽しんでいらっしゃいます。外海から来る波はちょうどいい波乗りのチャンスを与えてくれるようです。5月ー7月は、深夜に海亀も産卵に上陸するポイントのようで、ちょうど宿泊中に朝方浜に謎の紋様が刻まれており、近くに行って確認したところ、一匹の海亀が上陸した地点から直線で亀のヒレを前後ろに動かした模様が描かれ、産卵箇所らしき場所に大きな穴ができていて、そこに卵を産んだようなのです。産んだのちに海に戻ろうと、穴の周りを進んで、上陸場所から大きく半円を描いて海に戻って行った後が残っていました。そんな神秘な海岸の目の前に立つホテルです。夜、雲がなければ、本当の満天の星も堪能できます。素晴らしいロケーションでした。レストランのお食事も、地元、鹿児島特産の食材を美味しくいただけますし、普段では体験できないことが体験できる貴重なホテルだと思います。"

"Sankara was a perfect oasis of peace and tranquility on Yakushima Island. The service was impeccable. Everyone knew who we were and the villa we were staying at. So polite, gracious and helpful.
