Mid-Wales

Travel Guide
Devil\'s Bridge which includes tranquil scenes, forest scenes and a waterfall
Explore eccentric villages, hike through the vast woodland areas and enjoy the adventure activities in the scenic Welsh Midlands.

Mid Wales is a sparsely populated region adorned with green valleys and hills. Charming towns and villages are speckled across this picturesque, rural area, which is known for the spectacular Cambrian Mountains. Learn about organic farming and innovative techniques from the friendly locals.

In the northeastern part of the area is the county of Powys, where you will find Machynlleth town. See the works at the MOMA Wales modern art gallery and explore the Owain Glyndŵr Parliament House, which is the structure in which parliament was set up in 1404. Find out about modern methods for farming and sustainability at the Centre for Alternative Technology.

Bring your family for the fun activities of the countryside. Handle birds of prey at the Falconry Experience Wales and have a thrilling ride at Coastriders Kitesurfing.

Visit Llandrindod Wells in the heart of the county for its quaint town center. Among the highlights is the Radnorshire Museum that pays homage to an extinct county and tells the story of the region. Stroll through the tranquil woodland area of Rock Park. Go fishing in Llandrindod Lake and capture photos of the Dragon Fountain.

A little southwest is the county of Ceredigion. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the historic market town of Aberystwyth and browse the displays at the Ceredigion Museum. Admire Aberystwyth Castle and take advantage of the warm summers at Aberystwyth Beach. Winters here are generally cold, with occasional snow.

Head to Aberdyfi Beach in its namesake town, which is one of the gateways to Snowdonia National Park. Play a few rounds at nearby Aberdovey Golf Club.

Mid Wales occupies the central region of Wales, including the counties of Ceredigion and Powys. Arrive at the airports of Liverpool or Cardiff and take one of the many operational railway lines to get here within several hours. Travel around the region’s villages via rail.

Find rural treasures in Mid Wales, decorated by enchanting villages and serene countryside.
