A genuine Yucatecan summer house by the sea, owned by the same family since the 1970s. Spacious, simple, and slightly retro, it was made for long days by the water: open living areas, three air-conditioned bedrooms, a private pool, and the Gulf of Mexico just beyond the terrace. Daily housekeeping is included. Guests can cook or, for an additional fee, enjoy home-cooked Yucatecan breakfasts and lunches prepared by the people who have cared for the house and our family for over 20 years.
The Space The house is spacious, simple, and slightly retro, with the relaxed character of a traditional Yucatecan summer home. Its large, open living and dining areas face the terrace, private pool, and sea, creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
There are three spacious, air-conditioned bedrooms. Each has two beds, its own private bathroom, and space to hang up to two traditional hammocks—a very Yucatecan way to sleep and a flexible alternative for guests who prefer not to share a bed.
The house accommodates up to 12 guests, based on four guests per bedroom and two guests per bed. Beyond the bedrooms, the house is designed around shared experiences: long meals, hammocks, the pool, the terrace, and the beach just beyond it.
This is a genuine family beach house rather than a resort-style property—a home that has evolved over generations. Its appeal lies in its spacious rooms, its direct connection to the Gulf of Mexico, and the simple pleasure of spending long days by the water. We especially recommend trying the home-cooked meals available for breakfast and lunch for an additional fee. Traditional Yucatecan dishes are a specialty, but meals can also be prepared according to guests’ preferences.
Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, including the three bedrooms, living and dining areas, kitchen, terrace, and private pool. The house has direct access to the beach, just beyond the terrace and pool area. The property also has ample private parking for several cars.
Other things to note For generations, our family has spent “la temporada” here—the Yucatecan tradition of leaving Mérida for the coast during the hot summer months. Chicxulub, however, is a year-round seaside destination, and the milder, drier months from late fall through early spring are particularly lovely, with warm days, coastal breezes, and comfortable sea temperatures.
One thing to know before booking: the pool is intentionally shallow—about waist-deep for an adult. Our grandfather designed it that way so the children in the family could enjoy it, and it has remained that way ever since.
As in many homes along the Yucatán coast, we use water and electricity thoughtfully. We simply ask guests to be mindful of their consumption—particularly by turning off the air conditioning and lights when rooms are not in use, and avoiding unnecessary water use. This helps us care for the house and its coastal environment while keeping everything comfortable for everyone.
