This is the location of AT&T's "Pole Farm". In the early 1900's AT&T had their scientist's search out coordinates for the optimum area to send radio wave signals for telephone usage. After extensive research they chose this spot in my area for the construction of hundreds of telephone poles erected in a diamond shape pattern.
There was one pole per country and it was pointed toward that country, predominantly in Europe and the Caribbean. So, in the early 1940's, for example, when president Franklin Roosevelt wanted to discuss WW2 war strategy with Winston Churchill in London, their telephone signals would meet at this spot.
There is only one pole that remains standing and it is believed to be pointed toward Tel Aviv, Israel.
The beginning of the end for the "pole farm" was the launch of the first communications satellite in the early 1960's
