This is our second time to stay at this nice little getaway. We love the privacy and the fact it's at the end of the road. My husband kayaked while I fished off the dock. The house is cozy and perfect for just relaxing. Definitely our go-to in Menard for wanting to get away!
Very clean and cozy, excellent sunrises and sunsets, millions of stars in the country sky, and the serene and peaceful sound of running water from the creek outside your back door.
Our kiddos LOVED our stay. The littlest convinced us we need a rope swing at home after spending so much time on yours. The house had everything we needed and more and we cannot wait to come back next summer!
We really enjoyed the location. The three on cleanliness was due to the bathroom and coffee was left in the coffee pot which had turned to sludge. Outdoor cooking areas also left full of ash and dirty pan in one.We would go back as hoping the cleaning slips were just oversights.
This house is very quaint and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay, the house had everything we needed. There is a very nice fire pit outside that we used every night. Access to the river was very nice, we did put in a canoe and one of the kids went swimming. Very peaceful and relaxing sitting on the deck watching the deer cross the river. We will be back.
We love this place. So easy going, quiet, private, CLEAN. We enjoyed getting in the river and kayaking around. Loved cooking on the fancy fire pit. Saw so many animals, fireflies- so cool! This is our favorite place to visit. Love Marga, too! She's awesome! We will have to have tomahawk steaks together next time!
It was like having the out of doors....indoors! Loved all the windows. Also enjoyed the sun coming in the cozy little kitchen in the mornings. It was fun having a few farm animals around. Our host was very accommodating when we needed an extra blanket and even shared some fresh eggs with us We'll be back.
This was just what we needed! The host was very accommodating and I had 24/7 access to her if I needed anything or had any questions. She had left some snacks on the bar for us. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever had in a vacation rental and the house was clean. I loved the huge windows facing the river and loved watching the deer cross the river and hang out in the clearing across from us. We had a great time as are looking forward to returning.
Enjoyed our stay here very much. Beautiful view from front window; we just relaxed, but fishing and kayaking were available.
Saw deer, nutria, birds, ducks, and Marga's baby goat and lamb.
Marga was a wonderful communicator and host. Highly recommend her little hidden-away gem. (Would suggest bringing blow-up mattresses for the half-beds. Two adults were very uncomfortable on those beds.) The Chastains
Our experience was good until we decided to look under the Queen size bed that we were sleeping in, just to find dust and trash underneath. So with that being said we decided to check out early. We left on Sunday instead of Monday.
Expected 2 rooms with beds with some privacy and 2 bathrooms as listed in description. The single beds are fold out chairs and only one bathroom was disappointing with 2 couples. Would be Great for one couple with kids. She had water well issues and should have disclosed that and given option to cancel contract.
It was everything it was described as and more. It ended up being pretty cold, but we built a fire in the pit out back and stayed warm after fishing a while as the sun went down. Woke up to the beautiful views and wet our lines again for a while. Got to bottle feed some lambs, play with the dogs, and have the kitties nuzzle in a bit. It is quiet, beautiful, and everything one could want for a get-a-way from a busy life. Marga was so sweet and accommodating. She is even mailing something we forgot back to us. Thank you so much! We will be back again, and I hope soon!
What a beautiful place for watching deer and other wildlife! We spent lots of time on the large fishing dock looking down the river while listening to the babbling brook! Staring out the huge picture window each morning was the highlight for me. We'll be back for sure!
Beautiful location on the river. We spent most of the time outside fishing and kayaking. Owner was very responsive to our questions. We had a great weekend away!
Our family had a great time, climbing trees, kayaking, swimming, fishing and grilling on the bbq! Very peaceful and enjoyable! Thanks Marga for everything!
Very comfortable place with fantastic views and relaxing accommodations. The location at the end of the street provides great privacy. Had a great stay!
