Casa Atena On Seashore, Melendugno, Italy

Enjoy the summer sun in this airy villa just 50 metres from the Adriatic coast! Casa Atena sleeps up to 10 people, so is ideal for families or friends looking for a fun beach holiday. Close to some of Salento’s most fascinating towns, it makes an excellent base for relaxing on the beach and discovering some of the area’s ancient past.

The ground floor of the house includes an open-plan living area with 2 sofas, a dining table and a flat-screen TV. The kitchen leads off this room and is equipped with a cooker hob, oven, Moka coffee maker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Doors from the kitchen lead out to the back terrace where guests can enjoy meals al fresco.

The private terrace at the front of the villa has a seating area, with a parasol, which is ideal for drinks or relaxing in the sea air.

A wide wooden staircase leads up to the bedrooms on the first floor.

Sleeping
Bedroom 1: The master bedroom is furnished with a comfortable double bed and a wardrobe and has French windows leading out to a balcony with panoramic sea views.
Bedroom 2: The second bedroom has a double bed and a wardrobe.
Bedroom 3: This cosy bedroom has a single bed, with a second, pull-out single bed and glass doors opening onto the balcony with views of the Adriatic.
Extra: The sofas in the living room convert into single beds, with additional pull-out single beds.

Bathrooms
The villa has two bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Both are appointed with a shower, basin, bidet and WC.
Extra: There is an outdoor shower, ideal after a day on the beach.

Location
The is in the centre of the small town of San Foca, known for its beautiful sandy beaches, with pristine sea. The town is home to a large marina and also has some fun restaurants along the seafront. All are within easy reach on foot along the Lungomare. There are several grocery stores and supermarkets nearby.

The peaceful town of Melendugno (12 minutes) makes a lovely day out. There are some interesting churches, as well as a 12th-century abbey, a small castle and several excellent restaurants. The weekly market (Wednesday) is a source of the best local ingredients to cook at home.

Further afield is Lecce (30 minutes), the “Florence of the South”. It is blessed with wonderful Baroque architecture as well as Roman ruins. It is a jewel of a city and well worth a visit. Not only for its long history but also for its excellent food and good shopping.

To get into nature the WWF nature reserve of Le Cesine is just 5 minutes from the villa. Or for golfers, there are 2 golf clubs near the town of Acaya (15 minutes)

The closest airport is at Brindisi - just over an hour away by car.
