The hotel was amazing. It was well appointed and beautiful. Being a former cave dwelling made it very unique. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely we would definitely come here again.

I can't think of anything that could be better about the Corte San Pietro — this hotel was wonderful and I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff and service were phenomenal, the room and property were amazing, breakfast was delicious, and the location is perfect for exploring the old town/Sassi. Romantic and great for couples!

Very unique historic cave hotel. The communication of the staff pre-stay was superb offering important info on parking, shuttle to pedestrian village, etc. Giuseppe greeted us and was a fantastic source of information and such a pleasure! We met the wonderful owners who were onsite daily making sure everything was perfect. I just wish we stayed longer!

Gorgeous hotel, restored thoughtfully in Matera tradition. Staff were very helpful and communication prior to our visit was great. Restaurants were recommended and booked for us and trips arranged.

I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. Everything was exceptional - from the staff who radiated kindness and positivity, to the towels which might be the softest I've ever felt! It was a magical stay for us and we're so grateful.

Corte San Pietro has created a space where you can connect intimately with the nature, history and beauty of the area. The architecture and design used elements of stone, wood, metal and textile in a modern way that still honors the past. The hosts were exceptionally attentive and friendly. The breakfast was as delicious as it was beautiful. I will hold this place in my heart’s memory.

A little gem in the heart of Matera. Friendly, attentive staff. Very nice room - could just have benefitted from slightly better air conditioning. But then we are in the middle of yet another heatwave.

We stayed in room 19. The room was gorgeous. Comfortable and nice spaces. The staff were all extremely helpful, especially Anna (. Also the breakfast staff and porter, who I don't have named of). Breakfast was delicious in a lovely room with a live piano player. Communication was excellent before and during our stay. Good location. Great restaurants nearby. We also used their parking service and luggage tranfer service. That worked well. 10 star review!!!

Overall we enjoyed the room though it was actually part of an old building, not a true cave experience. The classic room was very small with little room for luggage or seating other than a desk chair and the bed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, shielded by a curtain, was fine. There was a complimentary bottle of wine and a tiny fridge that was stocked with items for purchase. There are no windows other than in the door so it was dim lighting and the bedside tables were tiny as befit the room size. We were satisfied with the room overall and we were aware the room would be small. The staff were very friendly and helpful, shoutout to Giuseppe and Miller and the breakfast room staff in particular. The breakfast was the best we had in our 2 week trip, accompanied by a pianist playing soothing music. Paid parking was in an inside private lot far enough from the hotel to necessitate hiring the shuttle service due to all the hills and cobblestone streets, Reserve in advance for a seamless experience but be prepared to wait for the shuttle. Upon our departure we forgot a bag of souvenirs that we left on the table in the room. It was our oversight and too far to return to the hotel when we noticed it. Although the hotel had our contact phone, we never got a message about finding the bag and that was a bit disappointing. We didn't call either as the value wasn't significant. The location of the hotel was excellent. ApeVito tour was great. Highly recommend Corte San Pietro.

FULL STOP! BOOK IT! Anne, Giuseppe and Angela in the breakfast room are ALL AMAZING! The entire staff was kind and supportive of even helping me talk italian because I was in language school. Get the parking information in advance and reserve your spot. They will arrange for a pick up at the garage and you don't have to schlepp your luggage which in Matera can be challenging. I absolutely LOVED this property and I have traveled to 37 countries. Charming - unique and I simply adored the cave experience.
