The Bluebird Motel

"One night stay. Property is being refurbished following a fire in one of the blocks, so, as its the road facing block that burned, when you turn up it looks like a building site. However they are open, using the unaffected blocks at the rear. The room was well appointed and clean. But the bathroom really needs updating. It works well enough, but looks dirty, but I think it's just worn beyond making it clean, IYSWIM."

"The Prowhouse is an amazing property! It was very easy to communicate with Richard. Beforehand, he sent an tremendous amount of material on best ways to spend time in the area, sights to see, places to eat, things to do with kids, on rainy days, etc. The home had well organized binders of all of that information and more - making it so simple to see and do all that you wanted while staying in down east Maine. The home was comfortable and well equipped. It was more like staying with old friends than renting a home off VRBO. Many thanks to the whole Rose family - it was a pleasure to share in your slice of heaven."
Downeast Getaway Victorian Cottage - Year-round

"Rod and Lucile were absolutely wonderful hosts. They met us at their charming house, showed us around and gave us suggestions as to where to eat and places to visit. I've lived in Maine for nearly forty years: their place, and their hospitality, hearken to an earlier era, one that prizes warmth, friendliness, and an appreciation of the natural world. Their home is lovely, furnished with antiques and vintage pieces, very welcoming and with incredible views out to the water, just steps from their door. A fire in the granite fireplace was a treat on a chilly night. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals when we didn't feel like venturing out to the diner a few miles up the road, or restaurants in nearby Milbridge. Bed was extremely comfortable, and there are many places to cozy up and read indoors, and a trail to walk around outside. The house is ideally located for exploring downeast — we went up to Machias one day, went antiquing in nearby Cherryfield, and visited the beautiful sand beach at Roque Bluffs. This is an idyllic place for a Maine getaway — we plan to come back as soon as we can."

"Super fun house and spot. The views were amazing, sunsets, peaceful and quiet. This is a rustic seasonal home but we really loved it. A little chilly till we found some more blankets. There is a propane fireplace which heats it up quickly but I would not leave that on overnight. The second bedroom is in a separate little studio and so you need to go outside to go to the cottage to use the bathroom. Also we did not notice re the tap water not potable and we used for coffee and tea :) so definitely need to bring drinking water. We loved this place!"
3-bedroom House with River View in the Center of Town

"The house was perfect to spend a week with our daughter on her week off. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfy. We were able to walk around Machias, drive to Lubec and Bangor without feeling like we had to rush anywhere. The local beaches were rocky and excellent for walking and catching glimpses of seals. Definitely worth going back to."

"We had a wonderful stay in Machias, Maine! The property is in a beautiful, peaceful spot and was absolutely perfect for our visit. Everything was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need.The hosts were incredibly responsive, kind, and easy to communicate with, which made the entire stay feel effortless. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and their property.We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, clean, and comfortable place to stay in the Machias area!"
