The house was plenty big enough for our family. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit as well as the provided firewood! The location was perfect for us to be able head into Marquette and enjoy some local breweries and food, but also provided us a good starting point to head out into the woods and hike!
We absolutely loved our stay! We've traveled to the area many times and this house is one of my favorites. Every room is cozy and welcoming. There are also many thoughtful additions to make the stay great for families - kids items, dog supplies, plenty of dishes, etc...We will definitely be staying here again!
We really enjoyed our time here. The location is close to NMU so we got to spend quality time with our oldest who goes to school there. Even with heavy snow and cold temps, the driveway was plowed daily and the hot tub was impeccable! It's such a lovely area of Michigan. We highly recommend!
It had great space for all 7 of us. And a small dog. They really know how to have everything you need for family and friends. Loved the deck and hot tub, fire pit and the big yard. Lots of space and privacy.
This is one of our better VRBO stays, the owners were excellent hosts, the property was accurately described and was in a beautiful location. Highly recommend.
What a comfortable place to stay! We all enjoyed this home. I’ve never stayed in a rental with such a well stocked kitchen. Amy definitely goes above and beyond to make sure you have the comforts of home. I’d definitely stay here again. The home is very clean and the property is gorgeous. It’s also a short drive to town.
Our family had a wonderful stay. Everything was in clean, working order and beds were really comfortable. The property (and guests) are well cared for by the host. Wonderful accommodations!
The house was very nice and organized. Loved the backyard for grilling and bonfires. Close to many great sightseeing locations. Would definitely return
We loved this spot! Amy was so nice about my service dogs. The house is very well stocked and has a cool vintage vibe. Close to town and a very nice yard! We enjoyed the hot tub which was warm even in the cold! Thanks so much!
I cant say enough about how warm, cozy, spacious, and welcoming this house was! The property was perfect for the pups to romp. The wood work and decor were beautiful and each room invited relaxation and conversation. It was the most delightful place for our visiting group to stay! Quick check in and the host was very accommodating. I will definitely be staying here again!
We couldn't have enjoyed our stay at the Northstar Lodge more! Very clean, cozy, and charming. Perfect central location to visit our family at NMU and explore all that the area has to offer. We loved the private large yard. Communication with Amy was prompt and seamless. She provided perfect instructions - no complaints! We would definitely stay here again!
This home provided ample space for large family accommodations with the four Queen bedrooms and large gathering areas. The hot tub and fire pit was a hit for the adults and the small children loved the outdoors for exploring and running. Note that the home, at this point, is not conducive to anyone with mobility issues. The home is well stocked and clean
Great home with lots of character! Plenty of space for family to gather. The kitchen had nice pots, pans and utensils. The hot tub is big and clean! So magical sitting out in the hot tub when the snow is falling. My recommendations would be to add a railing on the outside steps, more washcloths and kitchen towels.
If you want to all stay in one place and prepare meals together, this is your ideal place! We enjoyed hanging out on the porch and all of the different hang out spots are fun and cozy. I would suggest adding some games and directions on how to use the large coffee pot! There was everything you needed here to include fans for everyone! We would definitely book again!
5 friends and myself booked Amy’s place for a 4th of July get away. The VRBO was accurate to the listing and they recently installed a fire pit! We loved bonfires and roasting smores. The house was spacious with plenty of room to roam and the beds are comfortable. This is also much closer to downtown Marquette then you would think, an easy 8-10 minute drive to the Vierling or Ore Dock. They’re also completing some major renovations to make it even better. We would recommend to anybody young and old looking to enjoy all that Marquette has to offer!
Great house for a couples or family vacation with a close enough location to downtown Marquette. As you can see in the photos, this house is turn of the 1900 century old charm and doesn't have central AC. We drove up from the Ohio Valley to get out of the heat and ended up bringing a heat wave with us, high 80's in Marquette during our stay and if you need AC at night to sleep, you may want to find another home. Everything else was great and I would stay at this home again! Very very clean and we enjoyed the stay. Thank you host and cleaning staff.
The place was great. The layout was a bit strange, and definitely had the 1930’s farmhouse with addition, plus another addition, plus additional lodge vibes, but it was part of the adventure. We went up there for the Marji Gesick 200 mile race and had an amazing experience. The board games were a hit with the kids, as well as the outdoor fire pit. Cell service was a bit spotty, but Wi-Fi worked just fine. All in all, worked great for the trip and we’d stay again if we come up for the race again. Looking forward to the hot tub being completed!
This was the perfect home for a weekend getaway for my family and me. We are from Illinois and drove up to watch my son's Spring football game at NMU. It was 12 minutes from the Dome and 10 minutes away from all restaurants and stores. The kids loved that they each had their own rooms. At night we enjoyed smores by the bonfire and relaxed our muscles in the hot tub. In the morning, we sat on the front porch and watched the deer in the yard. Any questions we had were answered immediately. Overall, we loved the house and definitely want to book again this fall for some more at home feels and football. Go Cats!!!
Our group consisted of 4 adults and kids ranging from 6-13. The space was large enough for all of us and the bedrooms which were located away from common spaces each had brand new memory foam mattresses. Nice touches such as vintage and UP inspired artwork and decor, natural fibers on the beds and real plants throughout the home. The kitchen and coffee bar provided ample space for a group of 8 to make meals and our kids loved the herbal tea collection provided by the owner. Outdoor property was beautiful and tree covered - perfect for quiet walks. The location was ideal for hanging out in Marquette or exploring other smaller surrounding towns and attractions like Lakenenland. Were already looking for our next stay. Highly recommend.
Positives: This house was clean and cozy. Large enough to accommodate 8 of us and our senior dog. Felt very comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful when the wifi went out and responded immediately.
Negatives: I did not realize that all of the bedrooms were upstairs. (which are sort of narrow with no handrails) My 79-year-old M.I.L. could not climb these stairs and therefore had to sleep on the couch. We knew that the house was under construction but did not expect to have a 20 yard dumpster right near the main back entrance. And the broken glass around the back stair entrance had us constantly worried about our dog getting cut.
Overall, the property and home were great, and the added little touches of care were great to see.
