LookOut Ridge offers the quintessential opportunity to properly appreciate the Island Paradise. The Bahamian roots of this property have been honored and enhanced. Its expert combination of materials will charm you. Design elements, and finely appointed furnishings create a very special retreat that is the essence of quiet, simple luxury.

Man-O-War Cay, in the Abaco Island Chain, is by far the most beautiful and charming in the Bahamas. It is truly a tropical Paradise. Rich in history, it was settled in the1700s by Loyalists wishing to remain under British rule and today still retains something of a colonial flavor. Its boat building industry is still thriving today. The people there, whether local, expat, or visitor, are incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful and exude an unaffected charm.

The area offers first class fishing, diving, and snorkeling on the third largest coral reef in the world. MOW has a great coffee shop/museum, good grocery store, hardware store, and several small shops...and all only five minutes away by boat within the harbour.

LookOut Ridge perches on one of the highest points on the island. From there you enjoy wonderful breezes and incredibly gorgeous views of the Sea of Abaco in front and the Eastern Harbour behind. The Sea of Abaco side has its own swim platform with hand hewn steps to the water. On the Eastern Harbour side is a private dock. The property is accessed only by boat, ensuring privacy and quiet. Two kayaks are available at the cottage for exploration, beach fun, or visiting the Settlement. Motor boats are available for rent in Marsh Harbour or on MOW.

Privacy, Privacy, Privacy. This property is only accessible by boat, insuring an utterly quiet and peaceful retreat, while only a five minute boat ride to the two public docks in town.

Many visitors rent their boat in Marsh Harbor, where you will land if flying. Man O War is a 15 minute boat ride to your dock (Dock 39) on our property. After a short flight from South Florida to Marsh Harbour. (There is also a direct flight from Atlanta) and a 12 minute taxi ride on the Ferry, you will arrive at MOW within about 20 minutes. On the way, ask the Ferry Captain to drop you off at Dock 39 in Eastern Harbour. Follow the side walk up to your Bahamian cottage at the top of the Ridge.

Great vacation for our family

We've come to Man O War for many summer vacations, but after the hurricane it's been harder to find a place to stay. This house was both a great find and affordable. It's new so it's in great shape. We loved being by the sound. It's the perfect house for a family of four. We hope to return!

BEST vacation location in the Abacos

This was our second stay and we’ll be back! The house and property have so many places to relax. Every evening we watched the sun set over the sea of abaco from rocking chairs on the huge deck or from the lower swim/fishing deck. We swam from the lower swim deck where we could just walk into the water and splash around while watching the boat action (or just the beautiful scenery in the sea of abaco). We also watched the sunrises and swam everyday from the dock on eastern harbor (where the swimming is the best anywhere!).The house itself is very comfortable with all the modern conveniences you need but it feels truly magical.

A beautiful, quiet vacation

This property fit our needs perfectly. The beautiful landscaping, friendly neighbors, and great location really make this a special place to stay. The access to the harbor as well as the sea of abaco is a feature that sets this property apart. We would not hesitate to return for another stay.

Keep this place a secret

We will be back. The house is perfect for 4 that want to enjoy a quick trip in the center of everything. Boating over from MH is 15min, the lagoon was awesome for swimming and floating around in the evening after island hopping. We got lobster, grouper, and saw tons of fish on the sea side daily. The house has everything you need, the kitchen was very well stocked, lots of towels, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioners kept that house cold. There is a nice outdoor shower, a full size fridge, washer and dryer, and a couple other things that we weren't expecting. Absolutely super little small quaint island home. We ran out of gas, connected with the host, and had gas before I woke up in the morning. We couldn't have picked a better place. I'm only leaving this review because I promised I would. Otherwise I don't want anybody else to know about it, kidding, but hopefully its available when we look. We will definitely be back soon. Enjoy

The Best

The home is great. Clean, comfortable, quiet and great views. Very private…. Feel like you are in a botanical garden. Easy access to many local towns and things to do. Communication is always key in my business and it doesn’t get better than Britton. She was always available, sweet and helped us get in contact with the right people to fix our boat. We will be going back and will tell our boating friends about this home. 100% recommended!

Nice cottage, worst owner ever encountered on VRBO

the house is good for 2 to 4 people, but would be crowded with more than that, especially during rainy weather. it is adequately furnished, although with dark wood; it could be much lighter and airier. we were not informed of the broken dryer. as it rained for much of our stay this was a problem for drying wet towels, clothes, etc. owner's manual needs updating and should be sent prior to arrival (the information sent was not complete). there is no Firestick for the t.v. as promised. the rugs need cleaning, all are dirty. some towels and sheets (all white) have small stains. most importantly .we were not told that we should ensure a boat rental prior to booking. there were no rentals available over the holiday season. the owner said she had never encountered this problem before which is unlikely true. other renters we met had been unable to rent a boat six months prior to this christmas/new years season. the owner did not respond to phone calls or email questions. fortunately, residents of man o war cay were very helpful as was the G and L ferry service from Marsh Harbour. we are also home owners on martha's vineyard and rent our home on occasion; we always correspond with renters with any questions and concerns before they arrive; we check in with them during their stay; we are always accessible. although the property manager did respond (telling us the dryer was broken, after the fact) that is not the same as talking with the property owner.

Enchanting Island Cabin

Our family enjoyed our holiday at this beautiful cabin on Man-O-War. We rented a boat and it was the perfect base for lots of island adventures. Our children loved the feeling like we were on our own island and we enjoyed getting everywhere by boat. The views are unparalleled and we fell asleep on the deck reading books under the stars. I recommend this property to any adventurous family who wants to unplug and spend a week on the sea.

Awesome place

Great place to stay. Extremely clean and new condition. Air conditioning is top notch and water pressure is great. Beds are firm and new. I highly recommend this place.

Love Man-O-War

Enjoyed our stay at Lookout Ridge. Dockage for boat was wonderful, nice quite and calm harbor so even when winds pick up / shift there is no need to move the boat. We have stayed at MOW in several lovely homes but this was the first time we had the boat in a secure harbor, which was very nice. Good snorkeling off the front of the house in the abaco sea. Owner is wonderful to work with and truly helped to make our stay pleasant. The automatic generator that kicks in when the power goes out is a must have for any vacation in the area. AC was great. Lovely home, beautiful spot.

Lookout Ridge

We really enjoyed our stay at Lookout Ridge. The property was beautifully renovated and maintained...pretty much perfect for our family. The house was spacious, very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We specifically enjoyed all of the outdoor seating areas, both covered and uncovered, which had great views over the Bay of Abaco. There was great access for swimming and snorkeling at the front of the house, which was very convenient. We also enjoyed swimming off the dock on the Harbour side as well. There were two nice kayaks available, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We came by boat from Florida, so the dock was very important to us. The dock was brand new with deep water on all sides. The dock and the path leading to the house were well lit, so getting in and out after dark was very easy. Overall, this was a great trip, so we would highly recommend Lookout Ridge. Special thanks to the property managers as well. They took good care of us!
