My family has been vacationing in Luray since I was a child; we LOVE the area! We had a nice stay (loved the space, all of the board games, a beautiful view), but did have some issues.
1. The pictures in the listing showed a hammock. It sounds like such a silly thing, but we always stay in a rental with a hammock because it's my husband's favorite thing! We found out once we got to the rental that the hammock was damaged last year and never replaced, but the listing pictures were not updated. We should have asked in advance.
2. Temperature. Upon arrival, we learned that the house must be set at 71 degrees or warmer in the summer. Not a big deal, but it was set at 66 degrees when we arrived - make sure you check the thermostat upon arrival so that you don't get charged for an HVAC callout if the unit freezes! Also, while the living room was very comfortable, the bedrooms got considerably warmer during the night - you may want to leave the doors open.
3. Cleanliness/Safety: We noticed small cleanliness issues during our stay - cobwebs near the game table, an old contact lens on the living room floor, etc. We're not super picky about cleanliness, so this wasn't a bother. But, when we were packing up on our final day, we found a prescription pill under the bed my daughter slept in. My daughter is old enough that it wouldn't have been a dangerous situation for us, but I hate to think of what could have happened if a small child had found it! An unfortunate end to our stay.
