The apartment itself couldn't be faulted for its facilities, comfort and position but I have to say that the customer service was woeful and left us considerably out of pocket.
We had provided Sonia with flight details, time of arrival (18.00) and mobile number. I said I would phone her from the taxi to confirm all was going to plan and that's where the problems started. Both of Sonia's mobiles were switched off and despite trying to contact her throughout the journey by phone, text and email we had no luck. We arrived at the apartment and the taxi driver joined in the fruitless attempts to but to no avail.
We stood, complete with luggage, outside the apartment until after 19.00, presuming that the penny would drop and she would contact us or turn up to let us in. Sadly she didn't and we started thinking that we had been scammed. We decided reluctantly to book into a hotel for our four nights and texted Sonia to say we had done so. At 19.30 she texted to say she would arrive in 30 mins - no apology or explanation! I responded by saying we were at the hotel.
We then went out for dinner and continued to receive some rather brusque texts saying that Sonia was at the apartment and that we had to phone her. She seemed to think we should leave the restaurant simply because she had managed to turn up at the apartment over two hours late, her excuse being that her phone wasn't working (not sure what had happened to the other number she had given us). It was eventually agreed that we would meet the next day.
The apartment was superior to the hotel that we'd managed to book so we checked out and moved in to the apartment. Sadly we got no refund from the hotel for the unused nights - fair enough - Sonia's ineptitude was hardly their fault.
There was no offer of a refund from Sonia, not even a bottle of wine to make up for the debacle and we were in no mood to spoil the holiday further by debate. On our return home we requested one night's refund and after some rather ill tempered responses this was eventually done.
All in all it was a salutary lesson in what can go wrong with this sort of set-up.
Did we enjoy the holiday - yes. But would we recommend the property or any of the others managed by Sonia - no!
