Family & Pet Friendly Restored Cottage in East Mayo with 4* Bord Failte Award

Built by the Congested District Board in 1903, this beautiful cottage has been completely renovated to provide pet and family friendly self catering which has a 4* rating with the Irish Tourist Authority. Situated in the small village of Bracklagh, it has been finished to a very high standard with a new bathroom and kitchen, ensuite wet room, wood/peat burning stove, saorview tv, bluetooth speaker, digital Roberts radio, linen & towels from The White Company, underfloor heating via a groundwater heat pump and most of the electricity provided by a ground mount solar array.. A refurbished hay barn is ideal for parking, while a second, lockable barn is available to store bikes, surfboards and the like. Bracklagh is very quiet and a haven for wildlife – particularly hares and well behaved dogs are VERY welcome.

The nicest place we have stayed at. Wonderful if i new i would of booked it for the entire stay in Ireland. Shawn is a Gentelman with the best Sense of Humor. Went through everything and missed nothing. Hense the reason he is 5 star if 10 Stars were avaliable he would deserve them. Dont miss vour chance to stay off the Grid in the quaintest cottage in Ireland. We will be back

Great little getaway

Perfect family location, ideal for a relaxing family retreat. Sean & Suzi stocked the property with all the essentials which was amazing. Great communication and will definitely stay again if we head to this part of the world again. Would definitely recommend the property to anyone travelling to the area.

Short stay but very sweet, would definitely return.

Beautiful spot, photos online do not do it justice. Views from the cottage are beautiful. We brought my 87 year old mom, who is not fully mobile and with dementia and even she loved her little get away.

A wonderful holiday cottage with fantastic hosts!

After our experience at the last cottage, which was less than welcoming (guest instructions posted like confetti around whole house), cluttered, and unclean, we weren't sure what to expect.We weren’t disappointed! Seán allowed us to check in early and met us at their cottage to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We couldn't have asked for more!The cottage was spotlessly clean and had some basic supplies (tea, sugar, etc.). We took advantage of Suzi's cooking and generosity by ordering her soda bread and a cottage pie for two which would easily feed four and all for a very reasonable 25...thank you, Suzi We humans soon made friends with the resident cats, who thankfully were very dog savvy moggies, although our dogs were less entranced Would we recommend? Undoubtably!Would we come again? Absolutely!

A Great Stay

Sean and Suzi are perfect hosts and the house was great for my wife and I and our 2 young children aged 2 and 4. They even surprised us with a ball pit, that the kids loved, along with all the toys and the cats and ponies in the next field. The house was a 15 minute drive to our family that we were visiting, so that worked out great for us too. Would definitely recommend this property and would love to stay there again!

Terrific get away

We had some trouble finding the property but that was a GPS issue. Sean answered our call for help and met us on the road and led us to the cottage. He was great. The location is a perfect getaway or retreat. The property is clean and well-appointed. I recommend this place!

Beautiful Cottage within 10 mins drive to Knock Shrine

Highly recommended, beautiful private, spacious and clean cottage, comfortable home from home, all amenities and needs catered, even plenty of books, dvds, and toys for children, nothing amiss, and lovingly decorated to a bespoke standard. Nice Garden area for children with outside play items also supplied (small slide, seesaw, goal and balls), and 2 lovely ponies and cats on site. Very close to neighbouring towns, all within 5-10 mins drive either direction and Knock Shrine 10 mins drive away. Sean and Suzi (Owners) were lovely and very accommodating, and will definitely return to stay, only next time for longer :)

We all loved our stay the Shetland ponies made it for our grandchildren. Great living space and bedrooms with all quality fittings I all areas The property has now had it exterior painted blue confusing when you first arrive at the property. The owners could not be more helpful. The property is very well maintained and rural the internet can be poor to non existent at times this is no fault of the owners as the cottage is but fantastic in every other way

Very enjoyable stay in Bracklagh for 4 nights

Very warm greeting from Sean on arrival. Gave us ample information on the layout of the property which had had all the necessary requirements. Property was very clean and in an ideal rural setting. Sean also gave us plenty of information about the locality which was very helpful too. Ideal host and the property highly recommended. Quiet getaway in the heart of Mayo.

On arrival we were welcomed by the owner who explained everything to us. The cottage has absolutely everything you would ever need. Tea and coffee is in abundance and Sean even contacted us before arrival to see what milk we preferred. The cottage is warm and cosy with underfloor heating and the beds are very comfortable indeed. It is quite remote and that suited us. So ensure you don't mind this as you are not within walking distance to any villages. Would I recommend this cottage yes certainly 100% I have no issues with it or the owner. In fact Sean the owner was more than helpful and easy to contact.

We absolutely loved our stay here, we were looking foward to a nice peaceful long weekend and this cottage provided just that. The kids loved having there own rooms as they usually have to share a room when we go away. My son had hours of enjoyment using the extra large box of lego to not only play with but also to do his stop motion videos. We did have the unfortunate inconvenience of car troubles on a bank holiday weekend but sean and suzie were very helpful in suggesting places that could help us and even offered to baby/dog sit if we needed and gave us extra time in the cottage before checking out so that we could make areangements. We could not recommend them more for a quiet getaway and we look foward to returning in the future. They have provided everything you will need while you are there, there is no utensil or cookware that you will find yourself without. Thank you so much for having us
