House of Mercury is a one bedroom that is perfect for singles, couples and small group of close friends or families looking to connect and appreciate the great beauty that Joshua Tree has to offer. While the home has kept much of its old charm, it was modernized with your comfort in mind.
Besides the main house, guests can access the shed/office in the back that includes a work desk, AC and day bed.
Joshua Tree is magical and inspiring. It deserves the utmost respect. Lately the park’s integrity has been in peril and it need all the help it can get.
Here at House of Mercury we constantly look up at the stars (and planets) but never forget that ours is the best we have.
The Stars are magical from the cabin - located in dark skies regions of Joshua Tree.
While we love pets, we do charge an additional $50 pet cleaning fee per furry friend.
We have a firewood vending locker on site for your convenience. Each $25 bundle contains at least 1.5 cubic feet of firewood.
Please be careful while lighting a bonfire or using the fireplace and make sure to put it out before you go to bed or leave the premises. Brush fires are common in the desert due to the dry weather and fire can spread easily.
Please note we are located in a secluded part of town which provides beautiful views and privacy but also in the middle of the wild so you might encounter desert crawlers. If you do please treat them with respect and if you feel threatened contact us and we will do our best to help or contact the appropriate authorities to assist.
Photoshoots, especially if including additional crew (even if not staying overnight), must be cleared with us beforehand. Fees may apply depending on the scope and scale of your work. A minimum fee of $500 will be charged for any unauthorized shoot.
Water is extremely precious in California and in Joshua Tree in particular. The house’s water comes from an 1800 gallon tank which is refilled by a truck. We order water whenever the tank is less than half full. We ask our guests to conserve water when possible and to avoid misusing it. As such, inflatable pools are specifically prohibited and any unauthorized and wasteful misuse of water will result in the emergency water delivery cost of $250.
Please do not use the oven and please make sure you know how to turn on wood fireplace before using.
