The lobby is gorgeous - very hip and "South Beach"-like. However, it's entirely a mask as to the quality of the rooms, hallways, and rest of the hotel. The time and money invested in the lobby area should have been invested in the most important aspect of a good hotel - the rooms. The linens were stained, the air conditioner did not work in one room (forcing us to move to another room), the mattress was old, stiff, and uncomfortable, the rooms are small, the carpets are extremely old, dirty-looking, and stained, and the bathrooms need an overhaul. Overall, we felt very "dirty" throughout the entire stay.

Not worth the money
We stayed at this hotel for an evening and didn't find it worth the money we paid; our room had a beautiful view of the waterway, but wasn't very clean or comfortable. The restaurant was average and the pool area was pretty small.

Breathtaking views
The overall hotel was a bit run down. The carpeting needs replacement, but the water view was spectacular and made up for anything else. The beds (for a hotel) were the most comfortable I ever slept in. I highly recommend this hotel.

Not a 3-star hotel
This is a really old hotel and really does not meet the quality of a 3-star hotel. The staff were very nice and the room was clean but not what I am accustomed to with this type of rating. I am not sure if I will stay there again.

A Qualified 'yes' for a recommendation to stay here
This would be O.K. for a place to stay if you have relatives in the area or are there for business, but it's not a resort or vacation hot spot. Be sure and ask for a view of the water. We were in room 431. We did host a dinner in their restaurant for 12 of my mother-in-laws friends and they did a very nice presentation and the food was very good. The rooms and hallways need a total update, but the pool and the restaurant and bar are nice. We also like Toojays deli and Sushi Blue restaurant on Lake Avenue.
Great place to stay unless you prefer the big hotel chains
This hotel has personality. The outdated hotel Has a nice lobby and restaurant, plus a swimming pool area with a bar that is a good place to hang out. It is located in a neighborhood with fine and casual restaurants and bars. It is also close to the beach. I really liked it hear and plan to return. Avoid if you like modern everything, although it does have broadband internet access.
This hotel needs a coat of fresh paint and new floor coverings/upholstery/etc. throughout. The poor condition of the hotel made it seem dirty--although the bathroom was clean.
The hotel staff was very accomodating.

Problems
OK, it was New Years Eve, and I arrived a day late due to the airlines and weather delays. But they didn't have the room I reserved and the replacement was so small, the door was smaller than the other rooms. I've stayed there several times and didn't have any problems.
plus:
great location, very old fashion look.
heated pool, many tv-programs, friendly staff
minus:
air condition too loud.
no fridge, microwave or safe in room
tip:
ask for the highest available room with seaview (intercoastal waterway)

i would return and encourage others to give it a try
this art deco hotel is a real bargain. close to the avenues, an area with great restaurants and shops. the neighborhood is quiet and i felt safe in this area. off the beaten path but easibly acssesible to palm beach area venues. the food was a little upscale and the hotel could benifit from a step down dinning experience. possibly a more causual dinning fare for the veranda.
Excellent place to stay in the Lake Worth/Palm Beach area
Everything was as good as we had hoped for. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel's location, while not directly on the water, was handy to the beaches, restaurants and shopping. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. My wife particularly recommends the key lime pie.
when i arrived on 11/04 to the hotel lobby was nice and so was staff but the rooms were old and boring looking, i was staying on the 3rd floor ice machine was broken as well as the soda machine, but a beautiful view of the bay watching the boats go by... maid service would come around 8am and i told her to come back in 1 hr and she decided to come back in 6 hrs when i was back in the room (this happened 2 dys in a row) so no service for us. wasnt too impressed.
