Lake Lure Cottage~Pontoon Available 2 Rent!

Summary:
Welcome to The Enchanted Cottage on Lake Lure! Ride the funicular down to your lakefront escape with stunning views of Rumbling Bald Ridge. This classic home features three porches, a fire pit, dock, and an optional pontoon rental. Step inside to feel right at home—or step outside to experience the magic of the lake, right where scenes from Dirty Dancing were filmed.

The Space:
Please note: Due to Hurricane Helene, Lake Lure will be closed to all use during the summer of 2025. The rooftop deck on the boathouse is also unavailable this season, though the dock remains open for guest use.

The Enchanted Cottage features four queen bedrooms, plus two twin beds in the downstairs rec room—perfect for families or groups. There are three full bathrooms with towels, soap, and shampoo provided, along with extra blankets for chilly nights. The full kitchen is stocked with all the essentials, including a microwave, crockpot, and drip coffee maker. A large dining table seats 10, with two additional barstools nearby. Enjoy cozy nights by the gas fireplace, challenge your crew to board games or foosball, and relax on the spacious screened-in porch, complete with ceiling fans and lake breezes. Central heat and AC are included, though you may not need it with the cool air off the water. Outside, gather around the fire pit for s’mores and stories. If you're interested in renting the pontoon boat, let us know—it's $650 for the duration of your stay and managed by a local captain.

Guest Access:
Total access to the whole house and all of the porches/decks/docks you can handle! You can get to the main floor by simply riding the funicular, but you'll need to walk down a couple of flights of stairs to get to the boat house. One important note - our tram adds an incredible amount of convenience, but it is not always available 100% of the time. Power outages or maintenance issues sometimes mean the tram won't be available. Anyone staying with us needs to understand that climbing the stairs may be necessary.

The Neighborhood:
One of our visitors had this to say about the Enchanted Cottage: “The house is nice but you honestly don't spend much time in it. The dock and porches are fantastic. The use of the boat is great for driving out to a cove and swimming or finding the rope swing.”

Our large screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it’s big enough for everyone). The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for enjoying making S’mores and telling tall tales. And be sure to head out to the top of the boat house for some incredible star gazing!

Getting Around:
This area is car dependent. We have parking spaces for up to 4 vehicles. If you have more than 4 vehicles, you will have to make arrangements for parking your extras cars elsewhere.

Other Things to Note:
Our pontoon boat is your ticket to enjoying all of Lake Lure. Cruise the lake (license required, but we can help you get it quickly), catch some fish (permit required), and boat to some of the lake's restaurants. If you are interested in using our pontoon boat we do ask for $650 for unlimited use (most places on the lake rent them for over $800/day). The boat is typically available from late April through the October**.

**Additional note about our boat house. We suffered some damage to the deck above the boat house over the winter. For a host of reasons we were unable to complete the repairs before the busy summer season. The decision was made that it would be less disruptive for our guest's stays if we waited until the winter season to finish that project. Therefore, for the next several months, the upper deck on the boat house will not be available.
