"The hotel itself, and staff, were just fine, BUT the airport shuttle was a disaster. The hotel contracts out to a third party, also catering to two other nearby hotels; the shuttle does not operate at all from 10:30 am to sometime after 4 pm; and the helpfulness of the shuttle driver was miserable!
- on arrival, I went to the place at Madrid airport where the hotel shuttles pick up clients. After waiting/wasting an hour, I took a taxi - which, at 30 euros, shows how ‘close’ to the airport this ‘airport hotel’ is.
- on departure, clients were told to take their luggage out to the street well ahead of the advertised departure time, joining clients from other hotels. There was no place to sit down. The shuttle appeared on time but was a large coach, with the usual difficulty of entry (rather than the usual small shuttle buses designed for the job). The driver opened the rear hatch and told the clients to load their own luggage - without any assistance from him at all. To see that all the luggage fitted in, one client had to climb inside the hatch to re-arrange it! Similarly on arrival at the airport.
[PS. The only indication that our coach was a hotel shuttle was a small hand-written sign stuck on the front windscreen. I doubt I would have seen this at the airport on arrival, and I wonder even if there is any arrival service at all?]
Expedia must draw attention to this situation! Perhaps this is why it currently makes no mention of an airport shuttle at all? NOT ACCEPTABLE!"
