Return stay

L'Ardoise is a beautiful seaside community. We stayed in this house 5 years ago and enjoyed it very much. Last month we returned for a second time to enjoy the privacy, quiet and the amazing views from the deck and the upstairs windows. The house is spacious, well equipped and very easy to find. The property manager is friendly, nearby and easy to reach. We enjoyed our return stay.

Beautiful views and plenty of room.

We enjoyed our stay and found plenty to do in the area. There was lots of room for 2 couples. Point Michaud beach was gorgeous. The property manager responded promptly to our inquiries.

Great spot!

We had a wonderful weekend! Lots of space..lots of things to do.. Check in was super easy and owner was accommodating to our early check in request. Lovely area. Would book again!

This is our second time staying here.

This is the second time we have stayed here with different family members. We are close to our family in L'Ardoise. The house is clean and has everything we need and we were so pleased with everything. We are planning our next trip with other family hopefully again next year.

Amazing ocean view

We stayed over the Christmas holidays. The house is great with lots of beds for a group. The view of the ocean from the upper floor is amazing! Obviously it was winter when we were there so all we could do was look at the ocean. I’d love to stay here again in the summer and take advantage of the beach and ocean.

A slice of Acadia!

This home is more of a pan-abode style house than a log house and very rustic inside. The rooms are large and perfect for an active family. The location is a little distant from the usual attractions of Cape Breton Island. It's a good idea to ask to have the house aired for 2 days before you arrive.

Excellent owner and host

Our trip to L’Ardoise was amazing, the house was so clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The owner was excellent and very prompt to answer and kept in touch with us all through the process. The cleaner was excellent and met us upon arrival with the keys and checked to make sure we had everything we needed . I would recommend it to friends and anyone who is looking for a great place to stay 👍

Nice cottage

The place is very quiet and refreshing. The only trouble we had was the speed of the internet. In case you ae planning to work remotely and you need just to send few emails is ok but nothing else. The cottage is cozy and has pretty well stocked kitchen. With an awesome view to the ocean. Definitely a place i would return to.

Cabot Trail Visit

Overall, this cottage served us well. Amazing view of the ocean and very quiet. Tons of space and well equipped. Young and old will love the new -looking ping pong table. For those with mobility issues (not currently an issue for us thankfully !), to get to the main living area and large master bedroom, there are a number of steps to go up. If in the area again, I’d definitely stay at this cottage again.

Stunning & relaxing view

Specious home, stunning view, the description of the beach was not accurate. Expected to overlook the ocean, that was there but far away Need to change the photograph that shows sandy beach from the kitchen window. That’s misleading us to believe that the cottage is right on the water.

Cape Breton vacation

We are 6 sisters who booked this quiet rental, located close to a town with stores & restaurants. Other than groceries, all other necessary amenities were provided in the house. We found that we enjoyed having the kitchen and main living area on the second floor as the view over the bay was wonderful. Our stay was early-mid July; the cool nights and ocean breezes meant wearing layers of clothes throughout the day. Nearby St. Peter’s was celebrating Lobsterfest while we were there and it was an unexpected pleasure to join in that local celebration. As a side note...you do have to tend with a type of biting fly, and periods of fog most evenings/mornings. Nonetheless, we would stay again!

Review

We did a two night stay and really enjoyed the location. The view was breathtaking! Cottage has everything you need for your stay. Jonathan was great and very responsive to all of my questions. I think the decor and bedding (esp upstairs) need some upgrades. Also, there was no landscaping at all so we couldn’t berry pick like we wanted to. The place has a ton of potential if some of the old furniture and carpets were removed. I would not recommend having toilet mats for instance. They are outdated and just dirty. I mean that in the nicest way possible and would be willing to help the owner with more of my thoughts.

Extremely outdated

Although plenty of room the furniture is old, worn and torn. The beds are in even worse shape than the sofa. The grounds are so overgrown you can’t walk it. The ping pong table is literally on its last legs. There isn’t even a toaster. The tv is ancient, who uses rabbit ears and vhs? The flooring upstairs to the main bedroom is buckling while you walk on it. This could be a beautiful place if some times and effort was put into it. The only saving grace is the view.

I am a little disappointed on the property the grass hasn't mowed in a long time when my daughter used the oven it wasn't cleaned and it started smoking and our beds dowel were coming apart my husband had to fix the bed and it looks like there has been water that came in the window because there is Water stain below the window and there was clumps od hair all it over the place and it smelled like an old musty house

Worst place !

We arrived an hour early and and we had asked the owner could we get in early and he said prob not due to him and family staying there and the time it takes to clean but he told me he would leave door open and key on table ..didnt happen i had to track down the cleaning lady to get key ...he told me the lawn was mowed (we stayed there 2 years ago and the grass wasnt mowed )so he lied to me it was not mowed we brought outdoor games couldnt play them ! So ya we stayed there 2 years ago had no issues although house wasnt the cleanest but i didnt say anything. ...so since two years it went down hill the place smelled really bad like especially downstairs smelled "musty" you could see water stains all throughout the house, mold has to be growing there .the house was not cleaned ! We went out and bought bleach tonclean the bathroom it was disgusting! We had to take the first hour to clean the whole house ! everything felt damp!! The bed clothes were damp too and the beds we are pretty sure not changed good thing i brought my own pillow and blanket ! A piece of jewelry was found in a bed there was these weird water bugs throughout the house if u dropped a towel the bugs would be there wen ya picked up mouse poop in the bathroom down stairs and in a bedroom by the dresser .. when we first walked in the coffee table had something sticky all over it the kitchen chairs were all stained ! ...on the 3rd day the cleaning lady came to see if everything was ok she complained abo

Nice house

We checked in Friday afternoon went out Saturday morning got back Saturday night to find out there was no water the pump went in the well I called the owner Sunday morning and told him about it he apologized many times he also refunded half my money back within a few minutes the care taker had a couple of big jugs of water for me so I was able to stay until Monday morning it’s a nice place and if i had to rate the owner I would give him a 10 out of 10
