"We walked in an apartment with dust and dirt on the floor, mould behind toilet door, mould on kitchen glass tray. They said this apartment was closed for some time. Housekeeping staff should be trained to check on details. Would not recommend for families who are particular about cleanliness. "WOW. We walked in and realized that there are security cameras everywhere and the fact that the caretaker was to stay with us is not advertised at all. We didnt feel comfortable so we just left.. the worst part? Hotels.com was never able to reach the manager, so we never got refunded for the money. we did NOT stay here, so i would think twice before staying here. "I needed a private apartment in Colombo for a week, in Thimbirigasyaya, near SSC, Colpetty, Bambalapitiya and Wellawatte. It comes furnished and has a separate garage for parking a reasonably sized car. It is large and airy, with plenty of light, curtains, and has several overhead fans in addition to very good A/C and Wi-Fi throughout. Cathedral ceilings provide plenty of air circulation. "This is a perfect place to go for a getaway. The pool is immaculately maintained, and you are steps away from the beach. We watched fishermen hauling in their catch each morning, drank coconut water from freshly-picked coconuts, and had amazing meals prepared by Pushpa each day. Rex took us on interesting and noteworthy day trips around Wadduwa and shared his insights on all things Sri Lanka. This is truly a place to relax and unwind, listen to the ocean, and forget your troubles."

"Mount Lavinia hotel is in an amazing location with a phenomenal view. The F&B staff and food is excellent and very friendly. There was a games room with a pool table and table tennis table which my kids thoroughly enjoyed. There is work to be done in renovating the hotel and parts of the building to restore it to it’s former grandeur, but all in all a great place to base yourself and enjoy the beautiful and serene waves, lovely pool and mesmerising sunset you can see on the terrace. Note that some rooms have been renovated to a modern feel whilst others are not and have an old world charm to them- so factor that in when booking to best suit your holiday preferences "
