"Location: perfect. I was so grateful to not deal with taxis or Ubers after an overseas flight. Room: everything I needed. Bed was clean and comfortable, as well as the bathroom. However, if I hadn’t been wearing an eye mask while sleeping.. I would have been awaken by the morning sun as there were no shades (so be aware). Breakfast: amazing spread. They offer every Asian and West cuisine, and it’s all freshly prepared. Just a few areas of improvement, and they’re all regarding breakfast: 1) I travel with a coffee mug, as my coffee gets cold without insulation. When I filled my coffee mug at the self-service bar, the man working behind the bar saw me and raised his voice, “No to go!” It was embarrassing. I guess he thought I was stealing coffee. How about going around and serving coffee instead? Or not yelling at patrons? Also, I didn’t appreciate that I had to clear my own plates. So when I went for seconds, and I did not want to return to a dirty dish still on my table.. it was up to me to clear it, as they just waited for everyone to vacate their tables before cleaning. I think the breakfast service could greatly improve. 3) The overflow room they seated me in was not cozy. The main breakfast room was warm and nicely decorated, while the overflow room was plain and sad."

"Stayed at the APA Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower and honestly had a great experience overall. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are SMALL. Probably even smaller than you’re expecting no matter how many reviews you read saying “the rooms are tiny.” But realistically, other than sleeping, we barely spent any time in the room anyways because we were out exploring Tokyo all day and night. The beds were surprisingly comfy and we had great sleeps every night. The AC also worked perfectly, which was a lifesaver after long days walking around Tokyo. The hotel itself (lobby / common areas / rooms) were absolutely clean and totally fine for what we needed. Front desk staff and security were always friendly and helpful as well. The biggest selling point here is LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. If you want to stay right in the heart of Shinjuku and be walking distance to restaurants, bars, nightlife, transit, shopping, and everything happening in Tokyo, this location is incredible. 711 / Family Mart / Starbucks right outside the door. Only downside for me personally (and honestly not the hotel’s fault, more of a cultural thing in Japan) was the onsen tattoo policy. Tattoos either needed to be covered, with a max of 2 cover patches allowed, or no entry. Sadly I have a few tattoos so I wasn’t able to use the onsen. Just something to be aware of if you’re tattooed and want to use the service. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. No issues at all."

"The rooms are VERY small. We had two twin beds and there was no room for our luggage. The hotel is very convenient in location right in Shinjuku (a fair walk from the Shinjuku station however). It is priced based on the location, not the room and amenities. Would only stay there again if I needed to be in that location. Otherwise, not worth the very pricey rate."

"This is a suitable hotel for a trip to Tokyo, especially if you are flying in or out of Haneda (although the Narita Express also stops here) or taking the Shinkansen at the nearby station. You can get around to most places in Tokyo fine via one direct line usually, the room is tiny but no smaller than other similarly priced hotels in this area or most of Tokyo. There are better areas to stay at in Tokyo that are even more central, but if you are staying in Shinagawa, then this hotel is one of the best there. I will note that the breakfast buffet area is huge, one of the largest I've seen, with so many people. This can make it annoying when waiting in line or trying to get a certain item or even good table space, despite there being many tables. I actually preferred the North annex part of this hotel complex in a previous visit (listed on its own as Hotel N Tower) as it has its own smaller breakfast area, although the breakfast there is far simpler (business style breakfast) than the many options in the breakfast in the main hotel."
