Welcome to “The Bennett” at Ships Watch Resort. Below you will find house and resort specific details for your stay.

House Amenities:

"The Bennett" is a 4 bedroom and 5 bathroom cozy, classic beach cottage in prime location for an amazing stay in the OBX. The first floor you will find a Queen suite and Twin bedroom, each with a full bath. Go up to the second floor to the expansive living room, dining area and kitchen. On the third level, your King Master suite offers stunning views while relaxing. Another twin bedroom on that level makes this home perfect for two families. Extensive decks offer a wonderful entertaining room and sunning. A screened porch with table and chairs allows for enjoying the outdoors while protecting you from the elements. There are outdoor charcoal grills scattered around the resort.

The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, flatware, and appliances. All linens and towel provided. Beach chairs and umbrella available for use in storage room.

The house is a short, 5 min walk, to the private beach access listed below.

Resort Amenities:
Ships Watch has two unsurpassed amenities: over 500 feet of wild beach on the Atlantic with easy access from any house, and eye-popping views of the Atlantic Ocean and Currituck Sound that emphasize how far out in the ocean you really are. No house is more than easy walking distance to either the sea or the sound.

The beach depth varies with the tide, but even at high tide, offers a broad slightly-sloping sandy incline that a youngster can cross to play in tide pools and ocean foam. Then there are the winds –– that originally brought the Wright Brothers. Steady and reliably tropical from the south in spring, summer and fall; gutsy and gusty from the north in winter , which contributed to making the Outer Banks the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” because of the many ships which have floundered or sunk off-shore in the area.

We have the standard amenities, of course, a 3-lane, 25 yard pool for lap swimmers attached to a larger pool for bathing and play. A design element we used was to raise pool and decks above ground for sweeping views of the sound and tropical breezes.

We have two well-appointed and maintained tennis and pickleball courts for the private use of our owners, renters and guests all for good exercise and social fun.

On the sound, we have a 100 yard pier jutting into Currituck Sound. The catch of the day could be stripped bass or flounder for those of a mind to “wet a line” and the sunsets on the pier are each like original paintings, with a new variation of clouds and colors every day. There is also “crabbing”, by either pot or line, for the famous Blue Crab.

A quarter mile down the pedestrian walkway is famous Duck, the lost New England Village that washed up on the Outer Banks beach. A boardwalk stretches for two miles, with Currituck Sound on one side and many small shops, stores, galleries and restaurants on the other side.

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Wonderful stay in Ships Watch

My family really enjoyed staying in this beautiful property in Duck NC in Ships Watch community. Great location to the beach, amenities, spacious for 2 families and such an awesome time!! I highly recommend staying here!!
