About Us:
Grouse Haven Cabin was built in 2003-2004 by the current owners. The cabin was named Grouse Haven because while we were building we could hear the Grouse birds in the area “drumming”. The cabin is secluded in a red pine forest with lots of Mother Nature in its surroundings. There are trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. There is also a picnic area located at the lower end of the 90-acre property that you can get to by hiking trails. The cabin is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes with close proximity to Penn Yan, Hammondsport, Watkins Glen, 2-3 miles to Keuka Lake State Park, the Finger Lakes wineries, micro breweries, Keuka college, and more.

Beautiful location

The two of us stayed here with our puppy. It was an absolutely amazing location. The cabin was perfect for a quiet and relaxing get away. The setting could not be more secluded allowing for the perfect location to unwind. We cannot wait to return to this property.

Peaceful & private

We had a lovely stay in this clean, cozy, well equipped cabin. Dog friendly in a perfect setting in the woods. Plenty to do right at the cabin including trails to walk. Having central air helped on a few super hot days too. We really enjoyed our stay.

Quiet hidden treasure in the woods

A beautiful property with character and charm. It was a perfect start to our holiday. My two pups loved running around in the snow cover forest. We were able to see a few deer walking through the woods. We got a little lost at the beginning due to GPS listing the property on the wrong side of the road but a quick call to the amazing host we were able to find it no problemable to find it

Wonderful peaceful getaway

Cabin is great. just deep enough into the woods so you see nothing but woods, yet only 15min or so from town. Feel of a cabin with the amenities of a full house. Walking trails right there, for a quick walk in woods, or just sit on porch or in the clearing by firepit. Been here twice, once in the winter 10 years ago, and this spring. Both times great.

Peaceful and Well Equipped

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was remote and quiet, but still had all the modern amenities. The road was a great place to walk our dog. Didn't cross paths with a car once in 4 days while walking her. Did cross paths with many deer though! We were 10 minutes from some very nice breweries and wineries. Look forward to returning.

Hubby’s birthday weekend

We have been coming up to the finger lakes for about 10 years now The wine country has definitely gotten busier with people discovering this beautiful part of New York State The beauty of this property is the absolute serenity and peace of the property. I don’t hear traffic driving by or a neighbor for miles. The cabin is well appointed with all that is needed. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to many future bookings of this property

Fantastic weekend retreat

We decided on the spur of the moment to slip away from the stresses of today's world. This cabin was the perfect solution. It is the perfect hideaway among the trees in one of the most beautiful areas in the state. This house had everything we needed and more. It was the quiet and secluded yet centrally located. Plus if you are traveling with dogs it is totally the best! They are able to explore and run without us fearing for their safety. The host even had a dog dish waiting for them!

RELAXING

my wife and I wanted a place to get away with our dog and this was perfect, walking trails to take the dog on very little traffic and far enough off the road so you don't notice what there is. the camp had everything needed, a covered porch with grill to stay out of the rain, a gas fire place for the cool damp evenings. the camp itself was well maintained with rooms large enough to be comfortable, our dog actually found Grouse on the property and multiple times we observed deer and turkeys while relaxing on the porch. we were joined for a day by my wifes sister and her husband from Rochester who are seriously considering staying there themselves. We will definitly be back again. Pat & Jen B

Perfect Cabin in the Woods Experience!

Grouse Haven near Keuka Lake was the perfect cabin in the woods experience I was hoping for! A quiet "away from it all" location, but 15 minutes to "town" if you need! The cabin was exceptionally clean and the owner had it nice and toasty and the fireplace going when I arrived. The listing photos are very accurate - looked exactly as I expected base on the photos, from the cabin and rooms, to the property. Everything is provided: cookware, utensils, bath and bed linens - it was super easy for me to settle in from the moment I arrived. It was me, my dog, the birds, and nature. They have a great trail just across the road, dog loved it and we enjoyed it several times during the stay. I absolutely loved the porch - perfect for reading or relaxing in the sun. While Roku was available and I did watch a couple of movies at night, I enjoyed reading a book I had brought and there were puzzles (a favorite of mine) to pass the time. It was wonderful to disconnect from the world for a few days and I intend to repeat the adventure! The owner was very responsive and did a quick check-in with me via text to make sure all was well. If you are looking for a place to get away and enjoy what nature has to offer, this is the cabin. Felt like home for a few days.

What a treasure!

Our stay was great from start to finish. Phyllis and Mark have a wonderful cabin in a beautiful location. Set back from a dirt road deep in the woods with no one nearby, it’s a great place to relax and unwind. The cabin is perfect for couples or families with the loft bedroom for the kids. It is so well appointed that I can’t think of a thing we needed that wasn’t already there. Lots of dishes, silverware, cooking pans and utensils, glasses, even a crockpot and food chopper. The cabin is spotlessly clean with ample towels, bedding and even cozy throws. With four recliners and a comfy couch, there is plenty of seating to make everyone comfortable and feeling at home. Lots of trails to explore and fun little shops in nearby Penn Yan. Truly, the hosts have thought of everything and are very accessible if you have any questions or concerns. We would not only highly recommend Grouse Haven, we are already talking about our next visit! Thanks Phyllis and Mark!

Exactly what we needed! Beautiful, clean and organized inside, calm, peaceful and secluded outside. Would definitely love to stay again. No issues, no worries, close to the lake and boat launch. Close enough to towns and restaurants but secluded enough that the only sounds you hear are nature. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is the place!

This house was amazing. Very private and everything listed was spot on accurate. The hosts were very easy to communicate with which we didn't really need to as everything was great. Loved the property with the fire pit and walking trails. Only suggestions I have would be to add a mattress topper on downstairs bedroom bed for added support and the shower head in bathroom was extremely low flow making showering longer due to the extra time needed to rinse off as water pressure was so low which I totally understand being a rental and also did not take away from the truly outstanding property and home this is, truly 5 stars. We will for sure be coming back for a stay again. We love love love that it is pet friendly as well!

Perfect remote setting in the woods. The cabin was good. I did find the cabin decor a little cluttered, but that’s a personal preference. Furniture was comfortable, cabin was clean and absolutely everything we needed was ample.
