It was under renovation. No elevator. The hallways and staircase looked rough but the rooms were clean and newly renovated. The bathroom looked modern and the shower was good.

Felt very secure. We did not use the underground parking. They were renovating - so no elevator but the rooms were excellent & quiet. Needed key to get to our floor, & to get into the hotel, etc. The restaurant attached closed at 8, so we got take out- very tasty. As we were late in arriving, we had to go to the restaurant folks to get access. I think there was a phone # on the front door, but being tired & elderly - we missed that. Staff was very accomodating & delivered the coffee pods within 5 min of request. Air conditioning was good. The stairs were clean, but very worn. It is a heritage spot- so very old & shows much of its age. The lobby wil be fantastic when they are finished, I expect.

I had read a terrible review and I was worried I had made a mistake. However, in spite of the urban decay on the street, the renovated lobby and excellent staff member who checked me in made me feel better. The hotel is being renovated and the halls and stairs look like hell. But, the room was air conditioned and newly, beautifully renovated. So if you can look past the growing pains, the room was fantastic. All doors have key cards, so security was of no concern, and my car was safe in the locked underground parking.

What a dump. Looked like an old slop house that they were trying to renovate. Construction everywhere. Room was on third floor and elevator wasn't working. Would have been nice to know all of this before booking. Bed was very comfortable and they had secure parking, which were the only positves.

To start the room itself was clean, recently renovated & the beds comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel overall was very run down & unkept. While it does state in the listing there is no elevator, all the rooms are on on the second &btird floors & only the stairs to the second floor were carpeted, the ones to the third were raw wood & rough. The parking garage was very small & a challenge to access, and quite a few spots were marked as unavailable & full of junk. Overall I would not recommend this hotel especially considering the price.

The advertisement for this hotel was false, the walk from the road to around the corner to get to the hotel had over a dozen Crack heads, yelling vulgar and other things, had to weave through them, they were also loitering the steps to get in, the main door was locked, only 8pm. The door was locked behind me made me when i finally got in(nice staff though)uncomfortable and nervous, the smell was absolutely nauseating. I left upset and unsettled!

We were not advised that the hotel was under renovations. There was no elevator, carpets were tore up on the stairs and hallway resulting in a horrible smell. There were no staff on hand, the main door was locked and you had to call and wait for someone to come let you in. The underground parking was scary. While the room was clean there were no supplies and the towel rack and toilet paper holders were hanging off the wall.

It’s so smelly drug addicts are running the place no proper facilities. No proper parking. Room and the whole hotel was smelling and under construction. They never mentioned this on the website. Pictures are not real.

To be fair it is under renovations. The room we stayed in was CLEAN and nice however there was no hot water at night and no cold water in the morning and no air conditioning. Also there is no bolt on the door (which is alarming for solo female travellers) it was also very apparent that on the event of a fire everyone was going to die. No windows to open and no easy stair accesss.

As of May 2026 the hotel is undergoing renovations. Serious renovations. The room was finished and clean with excellent work showing, but the elevator is nonfunctional and the floors have to be reached on stairs stripped of flooring, carpets, and even paint. If you have difficulty climbing 48 stairs to reach the rooms on the second floor, you may want to spend your stay in Kenora at a different Hotel. If you are interested in comfortable rooms, reasonable rates, excellent facilities within the room, with a fine restaurant, and are not put off by a hefty dose of exercise, then please be aware that the Kenricia Hotel is a wonderful spot for a good night's rest.

I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT STAY HERE. We were greeted by homeless drug users trying to access the main door. The main door cannot be accessed without calling the number for the ‘manager’ who will then appear from within - leaving you outside with the aforementioned homeless drug users. Upon entry you will be told that the hotel is undergoing ‘renovations’ which has rendered the elevator out of service but they’ve still put you on the third floor because the first two are ‘fully booked’. The first two floors appear to be social housing for drug users and there was even a tag on one of the doors saying it is being monitored by law enforcement. From reading previous reviews, the renovations have been ongoing for years and nothing is actually happening. Starting the ascent to the third floor you are hit with a stench of dirt, smoke, and drugs as you climb the carpetless stairs. If you make it past the gauntlet of smoke, shouting, noise and banging - to the third floor - the room itself was actually fairly pleasant until the smell of smoke permeated the walls. The loud music, shouting, smoking etc continued through the night until the early hours. We felt uneasy and unsafe for the entire time we were inside (and outside) of the building. The singular staff member on site is nowhere to be found which is probably a measure he takes for his own safety. When I notified Expedia of all these issues, I was offered $15 on my one key account. Save your money, stay elsewhere!
