Like most places anywhere a car is always the best way to get around as you will get to see more.
However saying that, there is a tourist bus service which cover around 30 of the major things that guests want to do. The cost is around $25 each and it is a 'hop on - hop off' service which runs every day of the week. The ticket lasts all day.
Going out at night is just a short 5 minute walk up the road and it's all there: cafes, bars and wonderful restaurants from the inexpensive to the fine dinning.
It's all on our doorstep.
However, if you don't have a car and want to hire one, then there is a car hire place up here , just ask me for the details and will gladly forward them to you.

Burnie Brae is an amazing place to stay - it’s huge, luxurious with a fabulous shower, an incredibly well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a great location.
The house was just amazingly beautiful. It was comfortable, clean and in a great location. The host was very professional and friendly. We loved our stay
Perfect period home! Like stepping back in time. Superbly fitted kitchen, loads of room and very close to all amenities. Love it every time we stay there!
My partner and I and his 80 year old parents had a brilliantly relaxing stay in Michael‘s house. It is charming, quiet and had everything we needed for a perfect getaway.

Beautifully presented property within walking distance to restaurants. Great communication. Definitely recommend and return for another stay.
a beautiful, Federation house in a quiet street 5 minutes from the centre of Katoomba. Rich decor in keeping with the period of the house. large, roomy and comfortable. The living room/ dining room and kitchen are expansive and the balcony provides a bushland feel. Definitely stay there again!
This is a charming Federation house near Katoomba Street but whisper quiet. There is ducted heating and cooling as well as ceiling fans, and an excellent kitchen with dishwasher. There is a lovely green outlook from every window, and all the comforts of home.
Not our first stay here . Burnie brae is truly the perfect location, it’s a very short walk to bars ,supermarket and restaurants and an evening cocktail at the Carrington .
The property is lovely and very comfortable. For being so close to town , it is super quiet.
We will definitely be back again
It was a pleasure to stay at Burnie Brae. It was even more beautiful than the photos, inside and out. It was clean and comfortable, and in a convenient and quiet location. Michael was helpful and communicative. I would certainly recommend it and hope to stay again next time we go to the mountains.
We enjoyed everything about the accommodation, it was beautifully set up inside and very comfortable. The listing said it was an 'easy walk' to the town centre but we didn't find that so. At 85 it was too hilly for us to enjoy but we had a car so it didn't really matter.
Property lived up to the photos. Very comfortable and thoughtful extras. Underfloor bathroom heating. Beautiful garden. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would recommend.
We have been holidaying around Australia for many years. This is by far the best home we have experienced. Just so homely and so very comfortable. Michael is such a generous host and so helpful. The location is so peaceful and walking distance to town centre and eateries. Will definitely love to return to Burnie Brae again one day. Thanks a million Michael.
What a stunning property easy access, stunning grounds, so peaceful and quiet, close to the shops, clean neat and tidy. A central
Place to stay. The gardens are beautiful. The kitchen is as perfect as the pictures beautiful to cook in too. There is anything you really need to pack other than a quick stop at the shop for food. We cooked all our meals and prepped our lunches, daily cheese platters, wine and chocolate it was amazing thank you
What a beautiful home. The beds were amazing. We all slept so well. Explored the mountains with some friends and retired to such a comfy home, filled with antiques and memories of the past.
Set in a great location, an easy walk into town, a very romantic double shower, the kitchen was remarkable, this house was so warm and comfortable, so many teas to choose from, and Tim tams in the kitchen was an oh so lovely touch. Thank you Michael for allowing us to visit your beautiful property, looking to return again in the future.
Loved everything about this home, decorated so beautifully. Katoomba centre and Dan Murphy’s are within walking distance, as are Restaurants, Cafes, Big W, Woolworths, and Aldi are also close by. If you’re planning on purchasing a lot of groceries, it maybe best to take your car. I particularly liked that this home is in a very quiet neighbourhood, have not slept this well in a long time. Would have no hesitation in recommending Burnie Brae, if we are lucky enough to return one day, we would definitely stay again.
