You know, typically, I feel like I'm paying too much for a hotel room. I know I'm cheap. This is the first time that I really felt like I owed them money! I love the aesthetic of this place! Built in the revitalized Brookfield Building, a hub of travel for most of the 20th Century, they adopted a travel-based theme with train and airline elements present on every floor. The magic is, that it's all so thoughtfully done; it's somehow ubiquitous but not overwhelming. The color scheme, the classic decor, and the appointments all cooperate the transport you to the 1950s every time you return home. Amazing.
The restaurant downstairs, Dott Boss, looked and felt like a place Al Capone would have dinner on friday night after a hard week of murder and tax evasion. The food and craft cocktails were also on point. The experienced was completed once again by an exuberant and competent staff that were both excited and efficient. I was excited to eat nothing but local barbecue while in town but I still found myself at Dott Boss, twice.
Next the staff, perfect, across the board. I'm a night owl, so I get the pleasure of interacting with all the shifts, and they all provided exemplary service with the ability to read the guest (a rare skill these days). Two interactions stand out; first, I received a call soon after check-in to ensure that everything with my room was good. I can't remember the last time that happened.
