It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Gorgeous rooms and beautiful owners. Kumari & Joseph are so accomodating. The bus stops right in front of the path to the hotel, followed by an uphill stretch to reach the summit. So it's an easy & cheaper access to the city by bus. Highly recommended place to stay.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room didn't have Wi-Fi firstly but after I asked for help, they set up connection for me :) The buidling and infrastructure is a bit old. The view from the terrace was superb. Though the site is far from the city central, you can find some nice restraurants and bakeries within 10 min walk.

Potential

The hotel has been leased to some NGO's for the last 6 mnths and they are in the process of getting it back on it's feet. It hurts me to say as the owners and staff are very nice people but I have to be honest. The position is good in as much as it is quiet but it's a 10 minute walk to a reasonable selection of shops and perhaps 20 minutes to town. The biggest disappointment for us was the pricing at the restaurant. Ridiculously high in my opinion, 3 times the prices outside. The advertised full english breakfast was a juice, coffee, many pieces of toast, jam and one egg. It's a good place that will definitely become even better. I can't stress enough how kind and helpful the owners and staff were and that counts for a lot.

Le couple est parfait, d'une grande gentillesse. Le petit déjeuner local est très bon et copieux. Par contre, l'hôtel en lui-même est un peu dans son jus, il est resté bloqué dans les années 90. Pas de bouteille d'eau de bienvenue, rien pour la douche...

Loved this place! Within minutes of arriving I got a quick run-down of what to see, how to get there, what to do (and not to do) as a solo woman traveller, and got a discounted ticket to the Kandy cultural dance. After spending the previous night a very noise Kandy hotel, it was a godsend to arrive here! The location is great - within walking distance of many sites (it's a walk up-hill to get back). A bus runs nearby too. And the night-time views from the rooftop terrace restaurant are beautiful! Good food. This hotel has a good number of floors, and the restaurant is on top, so be prepared to climb a lot of stairs if you stay here. Wifi is available in the restaurant. If I ever return to Kandy, I'll be coming back to this hotel for sure.

Great vaule

Strong wifi, great breakfast, hot water, clean room, a balcony, and friendly staff. Small restaurants and stores for snack 10 mins away. A 25-minute walk from the main sight (temple), tuk-tuk and buses are easy to catch.

The owner was great, the terrace upstairs was nice for some of his delicious cooking!Internet was only available in the restaurant .The beds were not too comfortable, the plumbing could use some work in our room. Nice host , location and views!

Excellent hotel

A good location with a beautiful view . Rooms are big and clean. The food is very good. The showers are the best ( good hot water pressure) .The hotel is situated only a few meteres from lake and kandy city centre . joseph and kumari ( owners) are very kindhearted and they really take good care of there guests.

Friendly and reliable service.

The Majestic is 500m from the lake where you can enjoy a nice walking, the staff very friendly. They also offer for their guest tickets with discount to Kandy an Dance. Even is not in the center of town you get a lot of choices of bus.

Best deal in Kandy

Nice hotel with good location. Very good view from roof top. Clean and well ventilated rooms with ample sunlight. The owners Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Kumari are excellent people and very hospitable. This was my second stay in this hotel and I really loved it. I would highly recommend this hotel for all individuals and families travelling to Kandy.
