This house's location is fab: a few blocks from Main Street in Kalispell and an "easy MT length" drive to Glacier NP, Flathead Lake, Whitefish and NW MT. We had a multigenerational group of family in the house and it did NOT work for a number of reasons. It is an old house: the spaces outside and on the main floor are small so it is hard to find a place for people to gather, there is only one bathroom per floor, there are lots of narrow steps (2/5 flights of them) and odd unusable spaces, the front door is very hard to open so there is no way into the house except through the garage which requires being able to do stairs (every time). There are upgrades to the house which are so complicated that you need a manual or instructions from the owner to use: TVs, music system, coffee maker, heavy glass doors in the living/dining room and first floor bath. The garbage situation is communal which creates "overflow" issues. There is no air conditioning except for individual units in the attic and the dining room (and MT was in a heat wave this summer). The owner is NOT friendly to service dogs. I have rented from VRBO owners many times and never lost a penny of my security deposit. I should have known this experience would be different when I saw the high rent (for the area), the high security deposit, the high cleaning fee and the owner's requirement that I pay for Property Damage Protection.
