Great customer service. Balcony area could need more attention but the room otherwise was great. Amenities such as the pool area were well maintained. Food in the restaurant took a while to come but tasted great and incredible portion size. Breakfast buffet was great as well, with lots of food options.

Good hotel

Good hotel. Not very crowded when we were there. Bottled water provided daily, but would prefer plastic bottles instead of glass. Breakfast was great. Walkable, This was a family visit trip so mostly stayed in the hotel.

Stayed Dec 2023. Family of 4. Rooms: clean, adequate space for 2 ppl in each room. Bed is hard for our liking though. Washroom: clean, enough hot water. Shower head was not fully functional but still enough to take a decent shower. Food: 5/5 no complaints. Staff: 5/5. Fitness area: small limited space. Pool: 5/5. Notes: I would request extra towel to put on washroom floor so its not too wet. Went during Christmas and didn't need to make any food reservations. Would request for level 4 or above room to get decent view of the skyline.

The team and North Gate Jaffna were accommodating and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay due to their customer service above all. The actual property is clean and well situated however, it is starting to show its age, so keep this in mind if/when booking. For example, the fan/AC is temperamental (it either doesn't work, or it is set to turbo speed- no in between). There were some issues with power outages on the second day of our stay, however, this was not an ongoing issue. Would we stay here again? Very much so. The problems do not outweigh the excellent client experience that North Gate seeks to offer its clientele.

I stayed at the Northgate Hotel for two nights and was pleased with the overall experience. The hotel is decent and well-maintained, and the staff were excellent—friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay. Upon check-in, the hotel staff recommended the restaurant located on the first floor. I tried the seafood kothu roti on May 19 and was genuinely impressed. Though the dish was dark in colour, it was packed with flavour and had a great mix of seafood—I could taste shrimp, cuttlefish, and fish. It was very well prepared. The dish was reasonably priced at 1700. I also ordered a local arrack cocktail (arrack, passionfruit cordial, lime, etc.), which was refreshing and balanced. Priced at 770, it offered good value for both taste and presentation. Later that evening, I visited Machnag Bar, which is attached to the hotel. I had a 500ml Lion Beer (cost 635) and found the space comfortable and welcoming. The bar also serves food, though I had already eaten at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was included with the room, and the buffet exceeded expectations. It featured a wide selection of traditional items such as puttu, string hoppers, fish kulambu, sambar, dhal, and various sambols. Fresh milk appam (hoppers) were available on order, and they were just as I remembered from childhood—fresh, soft, and full of flavour. Overall, I highly recommend the Northgate Hotel, its first-floor restaurant, and the Machnag Bar. The combination of good food, fair prices, and warm servi

Overall this is a good hotel located closer to the Jaffna town and by the Jaffna railyway station. I took a small group with me this time for 3 nights and this was my second time this year. Hotel needs to improve maintance big time. I could not lock the balcony door due to the latch that was missing and the room was on the second floor so anyone could have easily got into the room by the tree branch which was touching the balcony. It was fixed on the same day but I was even wondering how the latch was missing in the first place and no one noticed. Also the service system which I can use to indicate 'do not disturb' wasnt working but maintanace did not fix it, due to that housekeeping cleaned my room daily even though I verbally instructed them not to. A few of my friends in my group exprienced the same. Beside these annoyances, the hotel has friendly staff. The chef made delicious breakfast every morning. I will definitly visit again.

Great place with very friendly staff! My wife and I stayed here in April of 2023 and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect for walking around Jaffna and they even have bicycles available for those who want to cycle. The breakfast and dinners were delicious. I would recommend staying here!

All of the staff were amazing, at breakfast they somehow sensed when I wanted some more tea! The food was really delicious, a great selection of curries (as well as western foods - although I stuck with the local fare). The hotel location was very central and made it easy to see some of the sites in the city centre (market, fort, old kachcheri etc.). If I was planning a trip to Jaffna in the future, I would definitely stay here again.
