Being an old schoolhouse definitely made it unique. The room was small but didn't feel like it. The view over the courtyard was peaceful and the live music in the evenings was nice way to end the day. If you want quiet before 9 pm then I would look elsewhere but we thought it made for a nice evening. The location was perfect and within easy walking distance to everything in the historic district which was a huge plus to not have to deal with finding or paying for parking. The room and whole inn was very clean with a friendly staff. We would stay there again!

First time here. I like the fact they’re so few rooms at the location and that they keep flying hours from 9 PM to 9 AM.. felt personalized. Clean, novel, friendly. Comfortable bed…. I’ll definitely go back.

Nice location and very clean and quiet property. We would stay there again, which is high praise because we are fussy old people! If you're looking for a beach vacation this is the wrong property, as it is not walkable to the beach. It is however only a couple of blocks from the main downtown area which has all the restaurants, bars and entertainment.

We were disappointed by the bathroom because there was no place to put toiletries. A table or countertop would have been very nice to have had. There was no soap for the shower. Thankfully we had some of our own. No box of tissues. Overall it was a positive experience. We enjoyed staying there. Thank you.

Cute decor, comfortable bed. We had to request extra pillows and received one. Had to ask again, received more, but housekeeping removed them the next day for some reason. Details we felt would have made our stay more comfortable: more than two hangers, a dresser or place to hold 2nd suitcase items. More than just 2 bath, 2 wash cloths, and 2 hand towels in the room. My husband is a disabled combat Veteran and the Inn should keep at least one luggage cart on property. One of the main reasons we booked this place over others was because of the heated pool. The pool was not heated, nor was it clean. That was very disappointing! We also found the light breakfast offered each morning lacking. It was very evident that pastries, etc., were previously frozen, and thawed for that morning. Lastly, we had read the reviews before booking, and found only one young lady to be warm, friendly and helpful. We loved Amelia Island, but would not recommend this property.

The nightmare scenario is to pull up to a hotel late at night after a long cross-country flight, only to find a darkened, locked, and seemingly desolate facility. Unfortunately, this was my experience at the Amelia Island Schoolhouse Inn. I was traveling from the West Coast and needed a reliable place to stay overnight before catching the ferry to Cumberland Island the next morning. While the front desk did email me to ask about my arrival time, they sent it while I was in the air, meaning I didn't see it until I was already standing outside a locked building at 10:00 PM. I eventually found a back entrance and a phone number on a mailbox. After calling, I waited 15 minutes for someone to arrive, only to be told "there was a mix-up." The staff member then asked me what room I was staying in (I had no idea), pointed me toward the stairs without showing me to the room, and failed to provide basic information like how to leave the facility without being locked out, or where to find food. The next morning, there was zero follow-up regarding the incident, nor was the breakfast situation ever explained (I think there was a continental breakfast put out? The woman at the desk said nothing beyond, "Good morning. Are you checking out?") It’s a cute property, but basic hospitality and attention to detail—like ensuring all expected guests are safely checked in before locking up—were completely lacking. If you are arriving late, be wary.
