Escape the hustle and bustle and come to the calm tranquillity of the Western Isles with a stay at ‘An Taigh Clach’ – “The Stone House”.‘
Located on the Atlantic west coast of the Isle of Lewis, this rural cottage is ideally located for exploring the many sites of interest on Lewis and Harris and is in close proximity to Doune Carloway Broch and the world famaous Callanish Standing Stones.
This barn conversion and renovation was originally built as a traditional family croft house in the early 1900's and has survived the best and worst that nature and the elements has thrown at it. The quality family living area and open plan fully fitted kitchen have been planned and laid out to give maximum viewing exposure. The primary heat source within the living area is a multi-fuel stove and an ample supply of wood and peat will keep you warm and cosy even on the coldest or wettest of days. There are two bedrooms within the property, one twin room and one double. Whilst the bedrooms are not large, they are cosy and with their solid oak floors and snuggled within the old stone walls your sleep should be peaceful and undisturbed. The bedroom Velux windows are both fitted with blackout blinds for those who do not want early day light during our long hours of summer. In an effort to reduce energy consumption we have opted not to install a bath. However, there is a large shower where you can enjoy the fragrance of local soaps. There is an adjacent utility shed with a self-draining floor and fresh water supply, ample off road parking, bicycle rack, decking and garden area for you to sit back, relax and marvel at the many breath-taking sunsets over the Atlantic. Pets are very welcome at ‘An Taigh Clach’, although they must be kept under control at all times, as we are in the midst of a crofting township with free roaming livestock.
With your ample supply of peat and wood for the stove and a wee ‘dram’, your evening’s relaxation is assured for a ‘get away from it all’ self-catering break.
