We have stayed in dozens of VRBO properties over the years, and unfortunately this was our first disappointing experience.The host required an in-person check-in at a specific time on the property, which was challenging while traveling. A 300 security deposit was required, but it was not clear in advance that the deposit needed to be provided in cash. We initially paid through an app, but there was confusion regarding receipt of the payment, and we were ultimately asked to provide the deposit in cash. During our stay, the host and family members were frequently present on the property. While this may not bother all guests, it reduced the sense of privacy we were expecting and made it difficult at times to fully relax.The property itself is beautiful, and the location is excellent. The surrounding area offers great hiking opportunities, and both Inca and the nearby village have a wonderful atmosphere with several enjoyable restaurants.There were, however, some issues with the listing and amenities. We did find the advertised Mountain View shirt of the marketing, there was an ongoing ant problem in the kitchen, no welcome guide or house manual was provided, and the Wi-Fi was extremely slow during our stay.This property has significant potential given the quality of the house and location, but several operational and guest-experience issues need attention. While we enjoyed the area, we would not choose to stay with this host again based on our experience.
