The villa is beautifully maintained and has been updated without losing any of its charm. Our ages ranged from 4 to 74 and the villa had something for everyone in our family. The first floor was wheelchair accessible and the top floor was a perfect nook for the kids playing hide-and-seek. The grounds and the views are breathtaking - there are so many different spaces to relax, on your own or with others, and just take it all in.
Katia was a wonderful host. She was responsive and communicative before and throughout our stay. She helped us make arrangements for a chef and driver for our airport transportation before our arrival. There were unseasonable heavy rains and thunderstorms during our visit, yet her staff made sure that the pool was sparkling clean everyday.
Given the large size of our group and our short 5-day stay, we decided against renting a car and relied on taxis instead to get to Florence. The villa is only 20 minutes outside of Florence, but the taxi fares ranged from 35 to 50 Euros (one way). The response time for the cab companies when I called varied as well - sometimes they came immediately and sometimes I was told to call back in 15 minutes because no taxis were available. Looking back, the better choice may have been to rent a car and deal with the hassle of finding parking in the city and navigating the narrow backroads instead.
If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax, connect, and spend time as a family, this is it.
