Sybil Cottage boasts expertly landscaped gardens reaching for almost an acre, and a lush secret wooded area with verdant panoramic countryside views, this hideaway offers guests a blended rural seaside experience.

Thoughtfully extended, this traditional Norfolk carrstone cottage is in an idyllic location tucked away on a quiet back lane, approximately a 20 minutes walk from expansive and tranquil Holme beach. Entered via a gravel pathway up to a welcoming porch, guests are led into a bright well-equipped kitchen featuring modern appliances and delightful wooden worktops. With plenty of worktop space available, be sure to take the opportunity to cook up a delicious meal made using the delectable local produce that this area is famed for. With rustic stripped wooden floorboards, the adjacent dining area provides seating for up to eights guests around an spacious farmhouse table. This is the perfect place to gather for breakfast to plan for the day ahead, or to share food, wine and conversation late into the evening.

There are two stylish comfortable sofas in the combined garden room, which gives access to the remarkable garden via french doors. Open up the doors on warm days to let the fresh sea air drift through. Also providing access to the gardens, conveniently located bedroom four is on the ground floor, making it ideal for less mobile guests or those who prefer a bit of privacy away from the rest of the party. Well lit with natural light, this bedroom has a king-size bed and is served by an adjacent bathroom. Plenty of comfortable seating is provided by the deep sofas in the sitting room. With a wood burning stove, this room is the ideal place to relax after a day spent in the big outdoors.

Upstairs, three beautifully curated bedrooms are located. The impressive master suite has a king-size bed under a Velux window, and features a large luxurious freestanding bath elevated on a wooden platform to allow views to the garden. Floor to ceiling french doors give access to a balcony that shares the same stunning vista. In addition, an en suite shower room accompanies this bedroom. A comfortable double bed is provided by bedroom two, which also boasts an en suite shower room. Bedroom three has twin beds, and is served by any of the aforementioned bathrooms. Decorated in subtle grey tones with complimenting quality soft furnishings, these bedrooms invite a restorative deep sleep.

Outside, the exquisite gardens are a considerable asset to this property. Extending to almost an acre and comprised of three lawned areas with a fabulous dining terrace, formal hedging, colourful borders, a summerhouse with a great supply of family games, a trampoline and swings plus a woodland area with a zip-wire, the gardens are perfect for al fresco suppers and for supervised children to explore and to let imaginations run wild. A secluded area in the woodland with a bench and fire pit makes a great space for guests to share stories over roasted marshmallows long into a summer evening. A gravel driveway provides parking for up to three cars

Guests will find this a great location from which to explore all that this part of Norfolk has to offer, including stunning beaches, culinary delights, picturesque villages, as well as many other exciting attractions. An area rich in natural history and vibrant wildlife, Holme is surrounded by nature reserves, including Holme Dunes. Lovely cottage with a fantastic garden in a great location

We had a great week in this lovely cottage. The cottage was to a high standard and ideal for three generations, and situated in a lovely part of Norfolk. The large garden was fantastic; beautifully maintained and with lovely lawns, woodland and a zip wire at the end which was a huge hit with our children. The cottage is in a village location, and the beach was about 20 mins walk away. There are plenty of places to visit nearby as well as enjoying the garden! The kitchen was extremely well equipped, the cottage clean, homely and nicely furnished and decorated, with indoor games and plenty of garden games. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate in recommending. Our only small niggle was the lack of welcome pack (e.g., pint of milk) upon arrival which is most unusual for a holiday cottage.

Sybil Cottage

Lovely location. Large house and gardens. Thought it was detached but it is a semi. It is very 'lived in'! And I did feel the residents had just moved out for a few days...... One bedroom/ensuite is not in great repair. Heating system and WIFI/television instructions would help. Yet it was good place to stay in.

Ideal for family groups

The facilities at the cottage were good and the layout made it perfect for our three generation family. The highlight was the truly amazing garden which provided the grandchildren with hours of fun. The summerhouse was an ideal play space and the zip wire was very popular! The only drawback was the tandem parking in the drive which sometimes meant a car having to be moved to let the other car out.

Beautiful garden, great location, fantastic weather!

We very much enjoyed our week at Sybil Cottage, which we found exceedingly well-equipped and comfortable. The beautiful weather allowed us to make full use of the garden. The elder of our two young grandsons, aged two and a half, really loved the zip-wire and the tyre for swinging. It's a great place for multi-generational family groups. A few points: a. the sofas were comfortable, but a bit shabby. b. the oven had not been cleaned - we cleaned it before we left. Not a pleasant job! c. the lady who brought us the keys was a bit confused about which keys opened what - it took a fair bit of sorting out - she said it was her husband who knew about all the keys. d. for a house which is furnished to cater for eight people the fridge is too small. e. getting into and out of the drive can be tricky if there is a car or van parked in the road outside the cottage - I know that nothing can be done about this, but thought it worth mentioning. f. if the trampoline is as dangerous as all the notes in the house told us, why is it still in the garden? Keeping a young child off it is difficult! g. on one of the nights a continuously barking dog from a neighbour's house kept the adults in our group awake till about 2.30am, and woke up the young children with us. Again, not the cottage's fault, but worth noting. h. and finally, a welcome pack of some basics would have been nice - milk, bread, a cake? This seems to be the practice of many hoilday cottage agencies we have dealt with in the past. I hope you take these points as constructive criticism. Our holiday was a delight. If we were in the area again we would certainly consider re-booking.

Excellent location and a fabulous village, peaceful and quiet, plenty wildlife to enjoy

Sybil cottage is nicely decorated and Morden with good taste. We enjoyed our stay despite the unfortunate mishap of water leaking from the master bedroom at around 5 am. It was fortunate that Kevin, the care taker, lives nearby within easy reach. Contacted him at 7 am and Kevin responded swiftly and remedial the leak by calling the Plummer and electrician. As we left on 9 June there were small plastering and lighting to be resolved. The slight disruption had not stopped us enjoying the stay. The village pub is wonderful with fab foods and convenient. We have had a fab holiday, thank you.

A lovely cottage in a quiet location with a beautiful garden

This is a lovely, well appointed cottage inside, but if the sun is shining it is the beautiful and well manicured garden where one is drawn to be. There is a large trampoline and a table tennis table that were not included in the details, so there is even more for children and young adults to do than we expected. There is no road or plane noise (except for the very occasional military jet). It is just a short walk to a pub and a slightly longer walk to the dunes and a sandy beach beyond. Do check the tide times though, as the sea does retreat quite a way at low tide. It is also possible to walk the 3.5 miles to Hunstanton along the beach. The north coast of Norfolk is a quiet backwater but there is still plenty to see and do irrespective of the weather. We recommend going to Sandringham, Castle Acre (ruined castle, ruined monastery with a village pub between), Wells where it is worth walking down the channel to the beach at the end, and Pensthorpe (bird reserve with lovely wild flower meadows).

Sybil Cottage

We had a truly wonderful week in Sybil cottage. It is a haven for children both young and old. The cootage is well equipped and very comfortable. The position is great for beaches and lovely walks. The local pub is good with many other good pubs in nearby Thornham. Hunstanton is also close with all other amenities.

Perfect for extended families....shame about cleanliness!

This property is in a fabulous location near beaches and a wide range of activities. The layout is perfect for a holiday shared by grandparents, parents and children. The extensive garden is magical for all but is in need of some tlc. As experienced cottage hirers we were disappointed by the cleanliness and organisation of this property. Many surfaces had a covering of dust, the bathrooms were only superficially clean and the carpets stained. The excessive weight of pans and trays in 2 drawers is an accident waiting to happen. There was a huge stock of kit in both the summer house and play room but everything was so mixed together that nothing could be readily accessed which was a disappointment. The owners have been kind enough to leave many resources for guests and it is sad that people have apparently not respected their property. The house has much to offer but would be so much improved by a deep clean and de-clutter.

Perfect family cottage

Amazing gardens which kept the children endlessly entertained. Perfect spot for walkers/birdwatchers as several walks straight from the cottage. Beautiful walk from house to Thornham via the Holme Visitor Centre.
