Good place to stop when traveling with a dog to the pretty little town of Hot Springs. Right on the river, with its trail—perfect for dog walking. Footbridges make walking to restaurants and shops easy. Family owned and operated by friendly, welcoming staff. We had messaged in advance to make sure they knew that we needed a pet friendly room (they were one of the few places that responded), and when we arrived, they offered a cabin, which was very cozy and comfortable with a separate bedroom and living/kitchen area. The cafe was the only disappointment. It was nice to be able to sit outside with our dog, but next time we would go somewhere else for a better breakfast and coffee.

Epitome of a "mom and pop" business operated by the Wetzel family. A small, but clean, motel located centrally in Hot Springs, SD, along a lovely brook. Walking distance to restaurants and businesses and easy driving to the Mammoth Site. Mrs. W operates a coffee shop/restaurant as part of the business, making a (15% discounted) breakfast convenient and delicious. Altogether a nice place, including a free mountain stream

The staff and owners at this lodge and café were wonderful. Hospitable, helpful, responsive, and kind. The food in the café was excellent in the price was good. If passing through Hot Springs again, I would definitely stay.

It was a great stay- friendly owners, clean and nice room. The cafe was delicious, affordable and the service was great. Only negatives are the walls are thin and the air conditioner was super loud which made sleeping more difficult when you have kids.

Despite nearby construction, my room was comfortable, quiet and well equipped. I was only there overnight but check in was quick, efficient and friendly and the cafe food was delicious and with the added bonus of a 15% discount since I was staying over. Walking distance to everything I wanted to see in town and to the Hot Springs (I went to Moccasin Springs) for which the town is aptly named and justly famous. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay! Loved the barn doors that slide over the windows to block the bright morning sun! The only thing missing was a coffee pot inside the room. Staff was warm and welcoming, the room was clean, and they are making beautiful improvements to the cafe and outdoor area!
