Honeymoon Beach

Honeymoon Beach featuring snorkeling and general coastal views
From snorkeling to stand-up paddlingboarding, choose from a range of activities that will get you out in the water to see the rays and turtles that live around this excellent beach.

Honeymoon Beach is an idyllic stretch of white sand with shallow, clear water and swaying palm trees. As one of the seven beaches of the Caneel Bay Resort, it has many amenities and a rental hut for water sports. Relax on a deck chair and work on your tan in this serene paradise.

Hike along the scenic 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) Lind Point trail from the VINP Visitor Center by Cruz Bay. It should take less than 30 minutes to complete the picturesque walk. Cool off after your walk with a swim in the pristine ocean water or relax in the shade of palm trees.

At the water sports shack on the beach, rent equipment for activities such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Get a mask and fins to go snorkeling in the clear water in search of colorful fish and coral. The patch reef on the western side of the beach lies in shallow water, displaying a world of fascinating marine life. See turtles, rays and other fish in this aquatic realm.

Rent a large pool float to take out on the water with your kids. Leave your valuables in a locker and stroll down the beach. Sleep in a hammock attached to the palm trees. The Honeymoon Hut has beach equipment, souvenirs and ice cream, while the Snack Shack sells food and cold drinks.

To access Honeymoon Beach you will need to check in at the Caneel Bay Resort and pay a fee. Equipment rentals have an additional fee, with discounts for kids.

Honeymoon Beach is located where Salomon Bay and Caneel Bay meet in the northwestern corner of St. John. It is part of the Virgin Islands National Park and can be reached via the main road that runs along the coast. Take a bus and ferry from the international airport on the island of St. Thomas to get here.

If you plan on hiking here from Cruz Bay, don't wear just flip-flops. Not a tough hike at all, just some ups and downs with some big rocks/cactus that would hurt to fall on.
