I booked this home for a family reunion of 6 adults and 5 kids. The property was amazing, but as host I was embarrassed at having picked a house with a number of issues that could have been prevented with better attention to detail and more robust access to elevator technicians.
Issue 1: broken elevator disappointed my father
I booked a home with an elevator because my father is currently dealing with a mobility issue. Four days before our stay, management told me that the elevator was broken and wouldn’t be fixed in time.
Resolution: They offered a comparable home in the same neighborhood with a working elevator but it had one fewer bedroom. After consulting my father, we chose to stick with the original home. They provided a discount of ~3.6%.
Impact: Significant inconvenience for my father, more bag-hauling for all, and disappointed kids. However, it was clear management took the issue seriously. I’d much rather have had a working elevator, but I’m also empathetic to the complexities of this business and appreciated the discount.
Issue 2: beeping elevator doors dampened the arrival excitement
When we arrived, the elevator was beeping multiple times per minute.
Resolution: The house instructions said to ensure the door to the elevator shaft was shut on each floor; that didn’t fix it. On a whim we tried flipping the breaker for the elevator from “off” to “on” and that worked. Management shared that they’d shut off the breaker to ensure we didn’t t
