Tranquil bamboo house located on the Waipahoehoe stream in Hilo. Kitchen: Cook your own meals in a beautiful and bright, open kitchen. The brand new kitchen has a large fridge-freezer with ice dispenser, oven, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, and rice cooker. Enjoy your meals on the covered lanai or at the indoor dining table. The tap water at the house is provided by the catchment tank and is UV filtered and safe to drink.
Entertainment/Work: A pull-out 43" screen combination smart TV and computer monitor in the main room allows you to access your own Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or other streaming accounts or work on your computer at the bamboo desk. The sleeping area also has a 32" smart TV. Several board games, including Hawaiian Monopoly, are available for your use in the cabinet under the stairs.
Sleeping area: The upstairs sleeping area has 2 dressers, a tower fan, a bedside lamp and nightstand and access to the 8'x8' uncovered deck with 2 chairs and a table overlooking the stream. All windows have blinds or curtains for privacy. The queen bed has a medium firm foam mattress with 100% cotton sheets, and hypoallergenic bedding and pillows. Access is via a metal spiral staircase - see photos.
Parking: There is uncovered parking for 2 vehicles. One space is along the right side of the house next to the entry stairs, and the other space is in front of the house. A level 2 electric car charger (50 amp ChargePoint) is available for your use.
Laundry: A stacked washer/dryer are provided in the closet on the covered lanai.
Climate: Hilo is a lush, tropical location. We have designed the home to allow enjoyment of the outdoors rain or shine. Downstairs has a covered lanai with conversational seating and table, and also a bar table with 2 bar height chairs. Upstairs has an uncovered deck to enjoy the views. Like most homes in the area, we do not have A/C, but all windows and sliding doors have screens to allow airflow through the house. Our higher elevation allows for cooler breezes to help keep the home comfortable. The living room/kitchen area has a ceiling fan, the lanai has 2 ceiling fans, and the upstairs sleeping area has a tower fan.
Property: There are 2 units on this property that share access through the same gate. Your unit is the first unit after the gated entrance. The second unit is farther up the hill and is currently in the final stages of construction. There is also a Gazebo on the property that may be used occasionally by our family during your stay. You are welcome to use the Gazebo but you must contact us to reserve it in advance. Please note that the stream flow varies greatly depending on the rain. During extended dry periods the stream may not be flowing.
Mail: The mailbox is located at the far end of the gravel driveway grouped with the other mailboxes on the street.
Guest Access: You will have access to the entire bamboo house, including the following:
- 2 parking spots around the house
- a covered lanai with patio seating and bar-height seating
- an upstairs deck with views of the stream and forest and deck seating
- a fenced property with automatic vehicle gate.

On the lower level, you can enjoy:

- closet with iron, vacuum, clothes hanging space, shelving units
- laundry closet with washer and dryer
On the upper level you can enjoy:
- sleeping area with queen size bed, nightstand with lamp, 2 dressers
- access to deck with seating and table
The front door and laundry door both have code locks on them. 2 vehicle gate clickers will be available for your use during your stay.
