We spent the night and it was very quiet, very easy to get to from the motorway and had loads of parking. The rooms did seem a little tired but perfectly clean and we had a great nights sleep.

Strange Hotel no food available after 7:30 bar closes at 9pm just feels it does not know what is a between a cheap contractors hotel or trying to be a bit more upmarket but just not hitting the spot

Booked the hotel for an anniversary, brought back fond memories. Rooms clean and tidy, restaurant was clean and food good. Not really anything to do at the hotel but wasn’t there for that. Happy with the stay and would stay again

Great location with easy motorway access. Not much locally but a short taxi into town is easy to arrange. Building itself needs alittle TLC - various things broken - only small things but just needs alittle investment to put right.

Nice hotel. Great big bedrooms with two desks for laptops. Excellent breakfast and good dinner, which unfortunately wasn't available on weekends. We never got the Wi-fi to work, as you had to make an account for connecting.

The hotel is in a quiet area with good parking on site. The disappointment was on return from an evening meeting at 8.00pm, the reception and more importantly the bar was closed. Where after a busy day , it was not possible to have a relax, however and fortunately there are two pubs within walking distance of 2 mins and 15 mins.

Very tired looking small double room, presumably given to single travellers. Mattress etc, no complaints Outside . Function directly outside my window, noisy until after 1am... Most other hotels mention at or before booking if a late function would be on. This did not...

A disappointing stay

Room 14, A little tired around the edges. Unable to adjust shower temp it was jammed on luke warm, shower leaked from trap onto bathroom floor which smelt, also leaking out of flow/temp bar itself. Thin walls with inconsiderate guests next door, woman rowing with partner at midnight & again @ 5am...very little sleep. All in all a little disappointing.

Pleasant but a couple of niggles

Stay was adequate but there were 3 issues Firstly the television sound kept going down by itself which was quite annoying while trying to watch the tv. Secondly I had to call the out of hours re leaving at 6.30 and was told to just leave the key in the room. There should be a drop box or somewhere residents can put their keys to leave before the receiption is in place And finally the American door locks need upgrading to a key card system as it was difficult opening and locking the room

Basic hotel, no frills

Stopped here a few times now as my daughter lives close by. Cheap and cheerful hotel if I am honest. A little tired and could do with a fresh coat of paint and some maintenance. The room I was in had a constant noise of either a boiler or heating and was very noisy. Have stayed iin better rooms. Asked for coffee and apparently don't put the coffee pot out at weeekends. Eventually after other customers asked for it they brought it out. We were all of the opinion that they had just filled it with instant coffee as there wasn't the residual you get from ground coffee.

The property is run down. When we arrived the restaurant area and bar were being used for a private function so we could not use those services. In the evening there wasn't anyone on the property to help us, the front reception was closed. If you were checking out early(before 8am) there was no place to leave the room key, if there was a place they offered no information as to where to leave it.

The Birch hotel

Stayed for 2 nights rooms very dated, in need of a refurb. Rooms not being cleaned very well, dust and cobwebs in areas which should not be missed. Needed to ask for another set of towels as only 1 set given. Staff seen to this very quickly. Bed comfortable which was the only plus about the room. Breakfast felt rushed and was only warm when served. Dissapointed the bar was closed early on a weekend got back at 9.50pm Friday reception/bar area locked and in darkness. Was the same on the Saturday although was later getting back. Maybe need to keep bar open until 11.30pm. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Booked this room for my colleague who was told to leave £150 deposit which was double what the room cost. He was told this was just in case he took a "tv or anything" even though the room and breakfast had been fully paid. My colleague teported the front of house staff was extrememly rude and would not want to return. The room was extremely noisy which resulted in my colleague having disturbed sleep.
